ABOUT ME

Ooooh these are always fun. You can call me Rae, Rachel, Rachelle, Recel or Raquel and any other nickname or combination you could possibly think of.
I grew up in Florence, Italy, lived about 10 years in the United States in North Carolina, Colorado, and California, and just recently moved back to Europe in order to be closer to my family in Italy and to go back to school and get a Masters degree in Linguistics. I currently live in Barcelona, going back to Paris in September to study journalism. I love to write, and am currently working on my goal to do it for a living.
I like to think that I am pretty outgoing, although of course language (or lack thereof) does get in the way sometimes. For the time being I speak English/Italian/French/Spanish and German is next on the list!
I laugh at my own jokes more than appropriate, probably, and am slowly getting more and more used to being alone, but I am a social animal to begin with. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far - amazing. I sustain that couchsurfing (along with blablacar) is one of the gifts that the internet and global connectivity has given to us. This is the type of community that makes you want to be a better person :)

MOVIES: Dr. Strangelove, The Brothers Bloom, Brick, Scott Pilgrim V. the World, almost all of Fellini's films, despite new developments I will also always love almost all of Woody Allen's films, Y tu Mama Tambien, Amores Perros, Les 3 Freres, the usual american stuff such as Anchorman etc, There will be Blood, Les Triplettes de Belleville, all Pixar movies (what can I say...I enjoy cartoons), 7 Psychopaths, in Bruges, Back to the Future, etc
MUSIC: Currently listening a bit more to folk, psychedelic rock, and metal, but I like everything (hip hop/ electronic/classical/etc).

I have performance anxiety on this one. Will come back to it when I have more time to write, and it will probably be about breaking into the Conservatory of Flowers at midnight in San Francisco and attending an illegal and clandestine soirée with a 4 string quartet, a mermaid, absynthe, and weddings.
