About Me

ABOUT STAYING WITH US

I'm polyamorous and have two husbands. We live together in this fairly small house in an eco village south of Ithaca. We have a futon in the living room for guests.

I'm am HIGHLY sensitive to chemicals, smokes, perfumes, and even the fumes of fried foods. You must bring unscented soaps/shampoos, etc, or use our organic essential-oil-based products. Please note that just because a product is organic does NOT mean that it doesn't use a chemical fragrance. (Organic refers to how the plants were grown, not what chemical processes took place after the fact.) You can not use chemical lotions, sprays, etc, in our house.

Also, if you smoke, you can not stay here. Even smoke residue on clothing can not come into the house.

If you yourself are a highly sensitive person, staying here will be a safe haven of understanding for you. Everything from our dish soap, to our laundry detergent, to the foods we eat are all carefully selected for my sensitivities and I've literally only met one person in my life more sensitive than my self.

We will offer you some food while you are here, but our grocery budget is limited and the food were source is all the finest quality and generally the highest priced. What we offer will be up to our discretion as to what we feel we can afford. Because of my sensitivities you may not be able to fry food, bake food, or toast while you are here, so you will want to bring food that doesn't require heating, unless it only requires boiling. (Boiling puts very little stuff into the air.) You will be able to put some food into our fridge or freezer as needed, but if you have a lot of food with you please check with us about how much space we have.

Depending on the time of year we may be happy to share some our organic crops with you so long as you contribute to the harvesting of the food. For example, we have seedless, heirloom grapes in September-October and blackberries in July-August.

I strongly prefer everything to be neat, tidy, and organized but my husbands don't always make this possible. As a guest is it is highly appreciated if you wash any dishes you make dirty, wipe down the counter if you use it, and clean any other surface you feel inclined to help out with. I am happy to show you where to find any cleaning stuff you wish to utilize.

While staying with me you will be free to question me about my extensive knowledge about health and nutrition. I've been providing high-quality health consultation services for ten years and have background in numerous different approaches including raw foodism, veganism, Ayurveda, the Plant Paradox Program, eating lectin-free (gluten is one of many lectins), Paleo, ketogenic, blue-zone diets, and indigenous traditions.

When you request to stay with me, be aware that I will read your profile. If you don't have any references or if your profile is incomplete or short, then I may feel uncomfortable and decline your request.

MY ACTIVITIES

In the summer I tend to spend a lot of time gardening. I build planters for my herbs and flowers out of stone. The larger the stones, the better. Often the rocks I use are too large for me to lift alone. In the spring time I have a lot of bulbs blooming as beautiful flowers. In the summer I have a lot of herbs. In the autumn I've often gotten distracted and everything is quite overgrown.

In the winter I tend to spend more time on creative pursuits such as water color painting, drawing with colored pencils, digital painting, warhammer 40K model painting, sewing clothing (out of organic cotton), creating my own journals from fancy paper, and acquiring/arranging houseplants. (That last one is a bit of a joke referring to the above paragraph, in case you missed that.)

All year round I go through fits of introspection and awakened states of being. I listen to Teal Swan, read Eckhart Tolle, and muse about the different perspectives presented by Richard Bach in Illusions versus Neale Donald's Conversations with God. I write a lot of my own work and have several books available for sale on my website, www.Raederle.com

I create a lot of my own stuff (clothing, notebooks, window planters, board games, etc) and buy as much from other individual artisans as I can. I own many hand-made originals that either I made or another individual made that I purchased from on Etsy. My entire wardrobe is now organic cotton. This is largely because I found out that cotton in the states is almost entirely GMO and 25% of the US pesticides are sprayed on cotton alone!

Roughly once a year I release a new board game. I illustrate them myself, as well as coming up with the design, text, and game mechanics. When it comes to play-testing, it is usually me and my two husbands and a friend or two. Thus far I've made the following games:

Voice of Conscience {a game of ethical quandaries, light/party} (published 2013)
Heir to the Phoenix Crown {a deck-building strategy game, heavy/serious} (published 2014)
Decisive Desserts {a dessert-making game that doubles as a recipe book, light} (published 2015)
Numinous Nonflict {a resource management game in a post-war setting, medium} (published 2016)
Other Temperate Fruits {a fun party game of dynamic comparisons, light} (published 2017)
Authentic Anonymity {a revolutionary party game exposing shocking secrets, medium} (in development)

MY WORK

Consciousness Alchemy is a set of tools that allow me to facilitate growth and self-knowledge. From weight loss to co-dependent relationships, most people aren't able to create lasting change because they have too many subconscious motives they are not aware of. My work brings people in touch with their deepest motives, their truest feelings, and the many sides of themselves that they have repressed. Through this work people can overcome the challenges that have stumbled them their entire life.

One of the best ways to keep up with my work is to become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/Raederle

Clients are saying:

"Raederle was able to create more change in my life after three hours than co-counseling was able to create for me after ten years."

"Consciousness Alchemy showed me to myself. That's priceless!"

Also: I do illustrations for books, board games, logos, signs, websites, business cards, video games; you name it.

PHILOSOPHY

Recycle. Love the earth. Love the trees. Plant gardens. Grow vegetables. Grow fruits. Eat uncooked food often. Eat sugars rarely or never. Enjoy being evil in moderation. Enjoy being good at every moment possible. Don't fret. Do not stress. Cry when you need to, but never force yourself to cry. Don't be depressed for the sake of being depressed. Don't be depressed to make a point. Don't hurt yourself to make a point. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

Appreciate art. Appreciate friends. Appreciate nature. Appreciate your amazing body that breathes. Practice yoga. Breathe. Inhale and exhale deeply. Think deeply. Love deeply. Consider things important to you deeply. Live deeply. Vote. Express your opinion. Listen to others' opinions. Consider others' opinions. Seek to understand before you seek to be understood. Be a mountain in your principles. Be a river in your tastes. Dance. Create. Move. Love everything life has to offer. Love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the couch-surfing community. I have used it for traveling in the past, but now that I'm quite rooted in Ithaca, I hope to host interesting people.

Couchsurfing Adventures

I have stayed at an organic bakery near Atlanta, Georgia, with a fun couple in Salt Lake City, with a fantastic inventor in Oklahoma City, and with a kind woman in Albuquerque.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived on Kaua'i island for 5 months in 2013.

Teach, Learn, Share

What you eat is what you are; no kidding. Eat uncooked vegetables and fruits as often as possible and your body will thank you. Eat organic and the farmers and the earth and the economy will thank you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to pull out my consciousness alchemy toolbox and begin showing you parts of yourself you're not yet aware of.

I also have extensive background in healing the body through food as well as emotional processing.
