About Me

CURRENT MISSION

my current mission is to live the awakening adveturous spirit in me, while feeding my need to create, live creatively and lvingly, and finish my PhD

ABOUT ME

I love to travel. In my 20's I travelled outside Australia, and began to travel inside my deeper self, in my 30's I travelled into a more creative lifestyle, and travelled around the country largely with sailing friends of to connect with musical communities in outdoor settings, in my 40s I am back in formal education, but one which allows me to do what I would most like to be doing in a supported way. I love reading, and outdoors, and singing, and dancing. I am vegetarian, and within that framework I love food. I love healthy fresh foods (and also some not so healthy.....). I also love Indian, and Lebanese and a range of exotic cuisines - but confess I am fussy about wanting no gelatine, meat stock, fish sauce etc as an ingredient in my foods.

I love Arts, movies, psychology (I have the qualification of a music therapist).... and have a passionate interest in humanity and fairness. I try to practice inclusive attitudes to people, and to be accepting of ways of thinking I don't understand. When these ways of thinking are non accepting of difference though I have difficulty with this. I love language, and speak several badle (due to lack of practice...)

PHILOSOPHY

Being real is more important than being "nice" but most of the time both can be managed. Positivity is wonderful when it genuinely flows, but when it becomes a moral judgement on others - or oneself - and obscures what one is really feeling and needing it is a problem.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My first couch surfing experience in Adelaide was an amzingly positive experience. I hope to becaome more involved in the local community when I return from my current trip in the USA, and Germany where I have surfed with a diverse range of really wonderful people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had an awesome time couch surfing in the USA, and extraordinary experience in Adelaide, and am about to couchsurf in Berlin. Bring it on I say, but don't be afraid to screen for people you think you'll connect with. People have been friendly, welcoming, and most have been comfortable for me to treat their home as my temporary home: my favourite way to stay with people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

goodness! This is hard. By the age of almost 45 I've experienced many amazing things, and must say that life itself is pretty amazing. It is often the small things that are more amazing. But if I must say something, I'd say that watching sunrise over the beach, or even better sitting on top of the hill as the sun rises on New Year's Day while Tibetan monks chanting is pretty dammed amazing. Eating "Dolce" fresh off the Baker' tray at 2 AM for half price when studying Italian in Italy was amazing. sitting in the spring sunshine in Berlin suddenly realising that what was happening was something that happened in a dream was also incredible. Getting a scholarship to do my Ph.D. when the last time I'd been a university was 17 years earlier was also pretty damned good.

Countries I’ve Visited
