About Me
Hello, I'm a university student in Vancouver. I'm originally from Brazil, but been living in Canada for a while since I started my undergrad. I'm an english literature major, and as such truly love literature, writing, and listening & learning from other people's stories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For a few years now I've been hearing many awesome stories from friends about their experiences with Couchsurfing so I decided to work on my account and give it a try now that I'm travelling on my own.
My first experience with couch surfing was last summer when I was travelling with two friends and one of them met someone on Couchsurfing that hosted us in Rio for the Brazil World Cup. It was such a great experience, I met people who I wouldn't have met otherwise, and I got to see the city from a completely different perspective. I'd love to see more of the world through the Couchsurfing community.
Interests
When traveling I'm torn between the city and outdoorsy activities... Canada got me into camping, cycling, and lots of hiking. But I also love cities, learning about their history, strolling around museums reading almost every little placard, get a feel for the neighbourhoods, streets, foods and people that make up a place.
Some of my general interests include cooking, art & art history, nature, kayaking, reading, film, philosophy, and many more...

Music, Movies, and Books
As far as books go... Italo Calvino, A Hundred Years of Solitude, Steppenwolf, Hopscotch, A Single Man, Catcher in the Rye, Fire in the Belly, Sirens of Titan, Unbearable Lightness of Being, and many others...
It's hard to pick favourites on the music and movies, but some of my recent favourite movies include The Great Beauty, Interstellar, anything by Lars von Trier, Laurence Anyways, Blue is the Warmest Color, and Only Lovers Left Alive...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last summer, around May, a few friends and I were camping on Galliano Island near Vancouver in Canada, and in the middle of the night we decided to go down to the harbour/beach. And as we were walking down the dock, we see these little lights glittering in the ocean and realized they were ocean bioluminescence! It was indescribably beautiful and surreal. Seeing the whole ocean glitter and twinkle, and when we'd touch the water it would glow even more around our hands.
I think I've had some great experiences over the years, but that night stands out right now. This recent trip I took around Europe has been full of some pretty incredible moments as well already. It's amazing to suddenly be in places like Istanbul, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Venice, Berlin, and so many others!
Teach, Learn, Share
love cooking and could show some Brazilian or other recipes and drinks. I like learning new languages and would love some pointers or basics on any language I stumble upon and would gladly teach some Portuguese and/or English as well. I'm interested in learning about what films and books different people are into, and what are their favourite places in their home towns and why. Also love sharing suggestions and music and of course, travel tips!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm so grateful to anyone who has opened their home to me. And as part of the experience I love sharing my own stories and have conversations on any number of subjects... I'd also love to share a cooking experience if time allows, or even just a coffee or a drink. I love to meet new people and its a big thing that draws me to couchsurfing!
