About Me

Hello, my name is Rafael. I'm a software engineer in the making and a remote worker in the meantime.

After having completed my bachelor degree in Lisbon (Portugal), I traveled around a little in Western Europe. I started with a 3-week biking tour along the southern coastline of beautiful Spain. At the end of the journey I stayed for 3 months in Valencia. The idea was to live in the city, experience daily spanish life, learn the language and the cuisine. It was a good stay and then I did the same on the Azores Islands and in Austria. Both of them magnificient in their own way.

During that time I also visited Brasil and England, did a month long trip through Germany and a roadtrip in the northern coast of spain. Spain especially has surprised me in many ways.

To finance the travel and living expenses I am working as a Software Developer in the areas of Algorithmics, Genetics and Web Development.

Next year I am entering a Master's Degree in Germany. I would love to travel more and also more outside Europe, but I feel now is also a good time to build some foundations with work and studies.

Cheers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being honest about wanting to meet new people is very genuine for me.

Technology has shaped humanity to a great deal and, while criticism of technology in regards to social interaction is well placed, it is also true that technology has opened new ways for us.

I mainly frequent the Language Exchanges and Meetups.
