About Me

Oi!

I'm Brazillian, the last son of a family of three children, and I live with my parents in Santa Catarina, a state in the south of Brazil. My hometown, Blumenau, is known through the country because of Oktoberfest (yeah, we have a copy of the Munich festival here), mentioned as the biggest German festival of the Americas.

I have a Bachelor's and a Master's in Chemical Engineering, but I actually work on IT, doing ERP systems implementation. The work is remote, so I'm always at home (of course, when I'm not traveling!)

Enough said, I welcome you to my profile and hope I can host and/or be hosted by you and that we can share memorable moments together.

P.S.: I'm very active on the app, so I read every message. If you requested to stay here and my response is delaying it's because I am arranging things with my folks, since I live with them, okay? ☮️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really liked using it during my first travel experience, so when I returned home I started hosting people and it has been awesome! I'm a very open-minded person, and people from CS tend to be as well, so the convos are always the best. I love to help people travel with little money, since I was helped too, and to know all kinds of people as possible is my lifegoal.

Interests

I'm a vegetarian, so I love talking about food. My favorite food actually are the sweet ones. Have you tried brigadeiro? Is the best Brazillian sweet ever invented, I can make for you if I find the ingredients.

I enjoy movies and TV shows and really don't think it'd be a waste of time to watch together something.

Queer culture and inclusivity are the topics that I most love to talk about, because it's my work and my life. Also technology and space.

Music, Movies, and Books

I consider myself part of the so-called Emocore tribe, so yes I like vampires that shine. I love Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional and all the melancolic songs of Sigur Rós (I had to mention Icelandic stuff again). If you're interested I can even show you some Brazillian emo bands that are the dopest.

My favorite movie of all times is Twilight, because there's some indie aesthetic shit in the first movie that I'm in love with. Some other movies I like: Cloud Atlas, Brother Bear, Your Name, and all the gay drama from the lowest to the highest budget.

About books, all I can say is that I love fantasy, since my favorite ones are Eragon, Percy Jackson, The Lord of the Rings, Dune, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. I like where I go when I'm reading about magic stuff. I rarely read non-magic books, only if there's heavy drama in it, like my favorite one: The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing and terrifying, it was when I decided to hike through Katla Geopark, near the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. I was definetly not prepared to walk so many hours in the extreme wind and cold, so after 8 hours I had to ask for a ride from the Rescue Team 😅 but at least the driver was handsome, and they were friendly (of course I kept mocking of my own situation)

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can teach: Portuguese, Brazillian culture, show you some cool landscapes of my country, tell you that there's a whole lot of stuff here that is absolutely outside the mainstream knowledge of Brazil.

I hope that I can learn with you: your language, your culture, about your family and background, some cool stuff to do in your hometown, good rock bands in your language, and anything you wanna share with me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I know how to do dishes, to clean, to sweep the floor and even how to cook (although I'm not the best chef). I'm used to be a proactive guest and not a lazy one because I've traveled a lot here in Brazil and I was hosted by many. So you can expect me to be very clean, organized and helpful.

Beyond that, I think I'm a very social person. And as I've traveled alone a lot, I learned how to mingle very well (sometimes my dark clothes may scare, but I am very sociable). So you as my host can expect to be filled with questions about every aspect of your town. I am addicted to trip planning so I think about everything. Please warn me if you feel I'm asking too much.
