About Me

I'm a software engineer, a husband and a father of 2. I was born in Salvador-Bahia, Brazil, but I lived for 12 years in São Paulo. Now I just moved to Bamberg, Germany, and I'm looking for new friends who share the same interests as me.

I mostly traveled inside Brazil, and I have visited 9 states out there (and more national parks than I can count). It's a big country with a continental size, so there's a lot to see inside.

My international experience is somewhat limited (I hope to solve this problem now that I'm living in Europe, because it's easier to travel around countries here), but I have visited the USA twice: one short visit to the east coast, in Boston, Massachusetts, for attending a conference at MIT; and a 45-day visit to the west coast, in Silicon Valley, California, for a short extension course at Stanford.

I have great memories of this last one! I could visit two national parks, including Yosemite, plus the Computer History Museum, the Googleplex, some hacker houses, and I biked a lot around San Francisco and the southern cities. It's a lovely place with beautiful nature and nice people from all around the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well... I had a profile here for ages, but I have never actually used it.

However, last week I accidentally met a group of hikers from Nuremberg Couchsurfing community, so I decided to update my profile and start being more active on this site.

The story of how I met them is somewhat funny because I was supposed to meet another hiking group from Internations.com. The meeting spot was the same, so I thought it should be them, so I joined. Then, I discovered they were from Couchsurfing when we already were on the train. Thanks, guys!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Heitor Villa Lobos, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Louis Armstrong, Brazilian Umbanda "Pontos" (you probably don't know those), Chico Buarque de Hollanda; Blues, Jazz, Classic Rock, Electronic Music (especially psytrance), people playing strange instruments (like the theremin or a didgeridoo), video game music (especially Nobuo Uematsu's work, this guy is a genius!), mantras, ayahuasca songs from Brazil and Peru, and probably a lot of others that I forgot.

Movies:
Tarantino. And the really old movies from before the 1900s, especially those from Georges Meliès.

I tend to like more 3D animations than movies, maybe because I worked with 3D modeling in the past, so I admire the art.

Books:
Search for my profile on http://goodreads.com, I try to keep my list up to date out there. If you have a profile too, share something good with me! ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in middle school, I won a Gold Medal in the state's Math Olympics, and I was a national finalist - in the same year I reproved on school's math class with a REALLY BAD grade (3,6/10).

People in the same class with perfect grades could not qualify in the first level of the competition, but I aced all 5 levels to the finals and I brought the very first gold medal in our school's history.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to program in Python, PHP, C/C++, and maybe 10 other programming languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, I guess. ;)

And good coffee.

If you like hiking, be prepared for LONG walks with me!

Countries I’ve Visited

Panama, Portugal, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brazil, Germany
