Overview
About Me
I'm Rafa, an IT Entrepreneur with a passion for music. When I'm not lost in the Matrix behind a computer, I play guitar and sing. Right now I'm finishing my first record, (sort of Muse meets NIN meets Pink Floyd) and I hope to release it really soon. Facebook / quantumenlinea
Besides playing I love listening to records and attend to all kind of music gatherings. From big concerts, small local gigs, to maybe go bar hopping and discover local bands, to jamming with friends, or simply laying down in the carpet, close my eyes, and REALLY listen.
I like making exercise every day when I can. I try to live a healthy life, going to the gym, or taking long walks in the outside. Walk to a local cinema, or a restaurant, and although I appreciate a good party from time to time, I wouldn't be called a party animal.
I have a small family so I appreciate good friendships. I like long, deep, meaningful conversations. I don't appreciate fluff talk, or people who differ so much what they say from that they do. I like truth.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Lately I have been traveling often, mainly because of my work. I go from the plane to the hotel, then business meeting, airport, and gone. So, where's the fun in that?
I think that the best way to know a place is through its people. It's incredible to get a roof, get to know first hand the culture, and make friends at the same time. They say the best things in the world are for free, right?
Although I have had little time to do it, I like hosting too! I think Mexico is a great country. I'm so proud of it, I love to share the little I know about it. I have hosted a couple of really good people, and I would do it again anytime.
Interests
Music is my passion. I started playing guitar when I was 12. Since then I fell in love with music and its power to create emotion. I have had rock bands since I was 14, wrote for the Rolling Stone Magazine for a year when I was 24, and have fulfilled twice my dream of studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. I did a course in Guitar Performance, and a second time, a full course in Orchestration. I have also taken individual courses in Harmony, Music Production, Engineering, Mixing and Mastering.
I'll tell you about my job. I LOVE technology and what computers can do, especially when they are related to connect people together. That is what my company is about. I'm a business partner with Microsoft, Adobe, Kaspersky, and other software brands. We offer solutions to bring people together in a safe, collaborative environment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For the last 3 years, I have been working on a record that mixes rock, electronica, and symphonic orchestra. It is a concept album and I wrote every song, lyric, and the score for orchestra. Once I finished writing, I programmed and recorded every instrument and sang on the record too. I also took lessons to compose, produce, arrange, record and mix the tracks. All in my spare time, and all by myself. I'm really proud : )
