About Me

My name is Rafael. I live on southern Brazil. I was studying Envronmental Engineering at University of Iowa for one year and half as an exchange student, and I discovered CS there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have changed my answer for this question after my first time as a guest because it was one amazing experience, and I believe that everyone should try it at least one time. I'm on Couchsurfing to share moments, by being a host or a guest, and I want to travel to several places in the world by using Couchsurfing.

Interests

I really like hiking and do outdoor activities having contact with nature.
I started to practice bouldering, so I like this and would like to climbing in amazing spots.
I like to have simple moments with friends because sometimes you just need a friend, some beer and time to talk to be happy. Also, I want to have great moments in my life and to travel for the most beautiful places, places that I can have great experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like several kind of music (rock, jaz, blues, pop, classic, ...). Of course that not all musics in that stile.
I like adventure movies, drama, comedy, and a lot of others. It is hard to say just some movies because I really like to see movies and TV programs. Now I am addicted in Dr. House.
About books, I like some mysterious stories, adventures and real stories. [just few examples: Sherlock Holmes; Into the Wild; Charles Bukowski; ...] However, I read less than I want (or need).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have made some hiking with some friends that was amazing for me. Maybe it was simple for other people, but I like this kind of activities.
However, for sure that my last summer (2015) was the best in my life. I went to Hawaii for two and half moths, where I participated in a research at University of Hawaii at Manoa. And I concluded my summer in Alaska, 16 fucking amazing days.
Travel to another places in the US was also amazing, as California, Las Vegas and Chicago.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that I can teach about my culture, traditions and behaviors. I hope learn new culture, new friends, new places. I hope share great moments with new friends.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Physically: I am a student, and I am living in a university apartment. So, I have just my room to share and the common areas that everyone use [I don't have roommate, so it is not so crowded].
Not physically: My cultures, in special some about the state where I born in Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul). Also, I can go practice outside activities (hiking, bouldering, ...).
In the same way that I hope improve my English and learn other languages, I may share some things about Portuguese also.
