Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always been interested in having conversations with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, to listen to their experiences and their daily lives.
How people from different cultures approach the same situation, and how their upbringing affects their world view and their behavior is something that always fascinates me.

Unfortunately, I am an extremely introverted person, and as much as I would like to meet new people and go talk to them, I find it very difficult. So, I have joined Couchsurfing to try and get out of my comfort zone and interact with people from all over the world.

Important: Most of the times I don't know what to say in a situation, so I just might remain silent. It might come across as rude, but that is never my intention. I am a work in progress, so be prepared for some awkward silences (Haha).

Interests

As I mentioned I am a very introverted person, so most of my time is spent with books. I read all kinds of books, fantasy, biographies, historical events, graphic novels, philosophical texts, almost anything.

I am also a huge comicbook and animation nerd, and I love discussing about Pixar movies and the usual DC Marvel stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
I am not much of an audiophile. But I generally listen to folk, jazz or alternative rock.

MOVIES:
Oh there are too many. I'll just list a few from the top of the my head.
Se7en, Fight Club, The Big Lebowski (huge fan of the Coen brothers), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Harry Potter movies, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Matrix.....

BOOKS:
Again, too many. I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Also, I like reading PG Wodehouse, Haruki Murakami, Kurt Vonnegut, Dan Brown, etc.
Nowdays, I am trying to read some philosophical stuff and have found solace in Existentialism.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I was a pretty fat kid, but I managed to lose 50 pounds (weight not money, :P).
But alas, I have gained those back. So my next amazing thing will be lose all that again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always trying to expand my mind and look at things from new angles. I'd love to pick the brains of interesting people, and learn not only facts, but may be gain from them a new perspective on life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I can have a pretty fascinating conversation, once I have had a couple of beers and lost my inhibitions. I can cook edible food too. :D
