About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I strive to live a hopeful and happy life.

ABOUT ME

I'm a generally happy and friendly person. I'm also thrifty, so I enjoy couch surfing.

I grew up in Kokomo, Indiana. I did my undergraduate in English and Comm in Indiana. Then, I moved to Mississippi. I worked for an Americorps-funded environmental restoration corp. We did some wetland recovery, trail building, etc. I really loved it there. When the program was closed, two friends and I moved to Montana. I have moved around a lot in Montana, and I've fallen madly in love with mountains. :) It's a beautiful place, and I feel at home here.

I'm outdoorsy, and I enjoy a good adventure. I don't drink a lot, but I am always down for a social beer. I don't smoke. I don't have any pets, although someday I'd love to have a giant dog.

PHILOSOPHY

I seek to understand people complexly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed some, and I hope do surf more in the future. I've had excellent hosts and happy experiences.

I hope to continue to host surfers. My ability to host will depend slightly on my schedule, but I usually can work things out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have some (extremely positive) couch surfing experience through this website, and I have informally couch surfed. I frequently travel and stay with friends (or friends of friends). I really enjoy meeting people, and I usually get along happily with everyone. I try to be a gracious guest!

Interests

Academically: Literature, publishing, rhetoric of community formation, law, and more

I also like hiking, jogging, reading, listening, getting to know people, learning, cooking, baking, camping etc.

I'm interested in sustainable living and social justice. (I can happily discuss divisive issues with people who think differently than I do. I always learn something new!)

I am a coffee, tea, or beer person. (Good for all occasions, right?)

I have personal religious and political stances, but they don't interfere with my ability to connect with people. I am very interested in community, connection, and humanity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like a large variety of film, and I'm willing to watch almost anything. Lately, I've been watching more tv shows than movies. My taste in tv drifts toward the nerdy. I like x-files, arrested development, scrubs, B99, pushing daisies, studio 60, coupling, orphan black, doctor who...and so on.

Music: My taste in music varies pretty wildly. I am partial to anything local and live though.

Books: There are only a few authors that really get me riled up. :) I tend to read more fiction than non-fiction, and I have a soft spot for young adult literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've lived on a baseball diamond and in a yurt. I'd love to live in a treehome sometime soon. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I have stories, and occasionally, I tell them well. Other than that, I'm honestly not sure. :) I'll figure out something to add to this section.
