About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Share fun experiences and happy times with others around the world.

ABOUT ME
My friends would say that I am caring, giving, helpful, the organiser, good listener, problem-solver, liberal and adventurous world-traveler. So here's a little information about me:

Dislikes: mosquitoes, dishonesty, being really cold, getting sick, spiders- especially the really big furry ones that want to eat me arrrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Likes: Mangoes, karaoke (everyone does its just some people don't know it yet), dancing to anything with a beat! Sunshine, beaches without sandflies, hermit crabs- they're sooo cute and all so unique I could watch them all day, frogs (I'm not French so I don't believe in eating them!) I have a sweet tooth so love cakes and gulab jamun and ras malai. I once amazed my Indian friends by eating 6 ladoos at one sitting- and they're not even my favourite sweet!

Want to: Go to an Indian wedding, do something amazing with my body, own my own business- possibly a cafe/ bakery, become more spiritually aware, experience life in more countries, donate more blood, become vegetarian, do more snorkeling/diving and see tropical fish and coral reefs, salsa at Carnival in Rio and jive to jazz in New Orleans, learn how to make my own clothes.

If I could change two things about my own society I would make everyone do community service so that everyone had an appreciation of what it is to help and to be helped- so less people would feel alone and so we could get rid of ASBO's! Secondly I'd make sure everyone had financial education so they appreciate money doesn't grow on trees and so that people lived within their means more and relied on banks and loans less. Finances cause so much worry to people and can even wreck families so this could be one solution to helping build happier, healthier communities.

PHILOSOPHY
A wise prophet (Dalai Lama) once said "Right from the moment of our birth we are under the care and kindness of our parents and then later on in our life when we are oppressed by sickness and become old, we are again dependent on the kindness of others. Since at the beginning and end of our lives we are so dependent on other's kindness, how can it be that in the middle we neglect kindness towards others?"
I believe that if we all spent more time helping each other and acting more like a community than as individuals, this world would be a better place. I try to do my bit by donating blood and I have volunteered at orphanages and with the homeless. In the future I'd like to do more volunteering with the elderly and in hospitals (as long as I don't have to see too much blood!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed and met surfers for day events and shown them around my city. One day (when I have a house!) I'd like to offer my couch up to keep the surfing going even when I can't surf myself!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couch surfed in Australia and the UK. I also had great fun helping to entertain some surfers who were staying with a friend in South Korea- we took them shopping, to a sauna and had an amazing picnic in a secret garden! And we are all still in contact now :)

Interests

Bringing people together- I'm always organising outings and meet-ups, cooking, eating, dancing and listening to music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to most styles of music but if you wanna make this gal dance its gotta have a beat!!!!!

Current favorite movies are Happy (Roko Belic) and Minimalist both documentaries because they both are educational about what’s really important- community and purpose :).

My favourite movie is Shawshank Redemption. It always makes me cry at the end because those complete strangers from opposite sides of life became such good friends that one was able to save the others life. It really is testimony to the power of friendship. I really believe in friendship and I strive to treat all my friends well because at the end of the day these are the people we share our lives with and I want to always be there to help my friends through good and bad and I think they would all say that I am!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping in the Golden Temple, Amritsar
Sleeping under the stars in a tent made of mesh in Kakadu National Park, Australia
Snorkelling in Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Hiking with Black Hmong tribeswomen in the majestic scenery that is Sapa, Vietnam
It was really cool getting to visit the Pyramids in Egypt. I really enjoyed getting to dance with Shah Rukh Khan at the Berlin Film Festival in 2008.
And of course dancing with the ladyboys of Thailand!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

We should all learn to make one community instead of always finding differences in each other we should realise how similar we all are and show our neighbours the same amount of love and respect that we want ourselves. I'd love to learn more about spirituality and how to make my own clothes. Also if I could ever discover how to make a full fat cake that didn't have full fat worthy calories I'm sure I'd be a millionaire!!! I'd love to own my own cafe one day and teach people my secret recipes!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, teach pilates class, sing together, explore the area, how to make awesome food from what’s in your cupboards!
