About Me

The first important thing to know about my CS profile --- I live 45 minutes away from downtown Toronto. Our home is accessible by car or by bus, but not ideal if you are mainly interested in visiting the city. We can offer you a perspective from a smaller more rural gathering of friends! One of us will always be available to either pick you up or drop you off from the Stouffville bus/train station.

I've been working the past few years on learning more about gardening and small scale farming. I'm inspired by the resiliance and support of local community. My housemates and I have similar interests that manifest in different ways - arts and theatre, botany, beekeeping, climbing, camping, community building, etc.

CURRENT MISSION

LEARN. about myself, the world I live in, about the people around me. I want to live gently on the earth, embrace simplicity, and always have a spirit of curiosity!

I'm a farm girl, born and raised in Southern Ontario.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of a local host and I think it enriches both the host and the traveller. There is an exchange of kindness and warmth that's worth lots more than just saving a bit of cash. When I think back to the wonderful places in the world I've been lucky enough to visit, I don't think of the sights and sounds as much as the PEOPLE I connected with!

Interests

Good food, books, journaling, people watching, walking slow. I'm always interested in learning from others about anything they are passionate about!

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly non-fiction reading these days! I like folk and soul music and just about anything that's true talent. I don't watch much TV but I really like documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 19 I hitchhiked across Canada. This was probably the best trip I'll ever take: the sheer distance between east and west, (and the variety of beauty..) the incredible generosity of the people I met, and the spontaneity of the whole experience. I fell in love with humanity!

AND (I know you said one, but I can't help it!)
I saw a live volcano on a little Island in the Indian Ocean. (Reunion) It just happened to erupt while I was visiting. We stayed until after sundown, there was a full moon making a silvery path on the sea , and the smoke and clouds were glowing from the reflection of lava. This Earth is so powerful and amazing and makes me infinitely curious!

Teach, Learn, Share

People > Places

"At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love. It is impossible to think of a genuine revolutionary lacking this quality." -Ernesto Guevara

What I Can Share with Hosts

IMPORTANT: Please only message me if you've read about 'My Home.' I don't live in downtown Toronto, and staying with me and my family is going to be a unique couchsurf experience! I probably will not reply to your message if you don't make it specific to my hosting situation!

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Canada, France, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, Portugal, Réunion, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United States, Vatican City State
