ABOUT ME

My name is Lauren Rains! Nice to meet you! I'm on a mission to life an extraordinary life! I'm a travel addict when it comes to everything from the culture, to the language barriers, to the food, to the scene, to the variations in plumbing around the globe! I love it all.

I'm currently living and working in Boulder, CO spending as much time outside as possible. When I'm not doing that, I run my a web design agency, though am currently in a transition of doing something else in my life. I have no clue what that will be yet but I'm hoping to make 2016 about that journey.

PHILOSOPHY

Each and every one of us is put on this earth to do something truly unique... something we're meant to do. If we aren't doing what we're meant to do, being who we're meant to be, seeing what we're meant to see.. then we're not really living. Be inspired & Inspire - that's what life is about.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I believe in the Travel Community, and because the type of person I love to talk with more than nearly anyone, is the person who is called to explore and experience. Couchsurfing makes connecting with those people possible! :)

There is a fascinating paradox in our world: On one side, it is easier to travel than ever with community sites like this, transportation abilities, and the internet. One the other side, it can be harder than ever given the endless choices and options at our fingertips and general status quo labeling traveling as "running away" instead of "working and having your sh*t" together.

Intereses

Travel - Who would have guessed on this site?! ;o)

Writing - Mostly short essays about the ins and outs of life. I'm also working on a screenplay for a short scary movie to film for fun with some friends.

Filmmaking - I am a total newbie at this, but have a huge curiosity and interest in making documentary films. This hobby came about in 2015.

Art - I create artwork using wood panels, stain, and carving tools that depict abstract landscapes.

Microadventures - These are long-distance human-powered adventures. Think Kayaking around Lake Atitlan in Guatemala over the course of 2 days, or walking from Sunrise to Sunset along the Atlantic Ocean, or skateboarding between Boulder and Denver CO. I am addicted to these "mini pilgrimages".

Yoga - A new practice from 2015. I wish I had started sooner!

Shawshank Redemption... all time favorite movie.
Books - Tuesdays with Morie, The Pilgrimage, The Art of Pilgrimage, There Are Other Rivers.
Music - oh so much. I listen to music constantly. Anything from Bruce Springsteen to crazy dance music to singer-songwriters acoustic to the best of the 80s to Janis Joplin and the rest of the 60s.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Went on a 2 day trek at the start of the Himalayas at Tiger Leaping Gorge in China. Watched the moon rise over the mountains to my right as we neared the guesthouse for the night. One of the greatest moments of my life.
Lived in China, Argentina, and France. Hiked the Great Wall, Skydived alongside Philadelphia, roadtripped around the US West, skateboarded 30 miles in 12 hours between Boulder and Denver Colorado

I've been a website designer working with nonprofits, creative entrepreneurs, and mindful businesses. If you need help brainstorming on your business be it in the beginning stages or you want to take it to the next level, I am very good at putting new ideas on the table and devising a plan to see them through.
