About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to enjoy summer time in Finland

ABOUT ME

I think this section is the most difficult one to fill in, it is strange trying describe oneself. Perhaps the one thing that would describe me the most is that I try to keep myself interested in new things and learn more.

PHILOSOPHY

I am trying to get a better understanding of the world and I hope to do that by keeping an open minds to things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tried couchsurfing for the first tim in Riga, where I had two hosts. It was a nice experience and after that I have surfed in Warsaw. I hope I will have the opportunity to be more active in hosting couchsurfers in the future. While staying in Lodz, Poland, I made friends with local people via couchsurfing, which I enjoyed very much.

Interests

I have some sporty interests such as swimming and dancing west-african dances. I enjoy watching films and going to modern art exhibitions and gallerys. Cooking vegetarian food is also close to my heart (and eating it with friends).

I am a student in women's studies and I am interested in feminism and gender issues also outside university. I enjoy conversations about politics and equality but also about films, books and visual art.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy films, both classics and contemporary ones. Lately I have been watching films by Fassbinder, Truffaut, Fatih Akin, Ari Folman, Aki Kaurismaki and Lukas Moodysson.

There are many Finnish authors I like, for example Pirkko Saisio. I find many children's book enjoyable also. Gender issues and feminism are themes that interest me both in theoretical books and in novels, as in Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides.

I have quite a broad taste in music, mostly I listen to older pop (Bill Withers, Dianne Warwick), alternative rock (Scott Walker), electric music (The Knife, Discovery) and melodic jazz (Johanna Iivanainen, Nieminen ja Litmanen). In addition I adore Kate Bush.
