About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I don't know what I'm lookin' for, but I know that I just wanna look some more

Live, love, laugh and TRAVEL!!

ABOUT ME

I love to meet new and interesting people from around the globe, whether in our home, or traveling abroad.

I'm Jane. I'm crazy, funny, fun, loving, happy (most of the time), goofy, driven, sassy, creative, imaginative, interesting, knowledgable, artsy, sarcastic, witty, peace-keeping, hard-working, huggable, friendly, active, generous, busy, calm, thoughtful, compasionate, adventerous, clean, talkative, sincere, dedicated, loyal, bombastic, and considerate.

PHILOSOPHY

You gotta get gone
You gotta get goin'
Hey the world ain't slowin' down for noone
It's a carnival calling out to you
It sounds like a song
It hits ya like scripture
You paint the picture with colors squeezed from your hands
Weren't you the kid who just climbed on the merry-go-round?
Hey look, the world ain't slowin' down

- Paul Ellis

I am also a firm believer in the old Spanish proverb that "A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
...ok, maybe I stole that from Strictly Ballroom...still true!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted many travelers in New York City since October, 2007 with my roommate, Dan. I haven't been very active lately due to moving to the closest northern suburb to Chicago (skokie) and raising two cute and crazy kiddos (under one and three year old). I would love to add Couchsurfing back into my life when things calm down a bit!

I have had the pleasure to surf in Boston and Prividence, RI, Bar Harbor, Maine and Paris, France (as well as countless other places with friends!). I realized just how amazing the full circle of trust and frienship is that goes along with couchsurfing.

Traveling is my passion, and I've studied and traveled in England, Ireland, Brazil and South Korea. In addition to that, I've traveled throughout most of Europe, Asia and and North America. The goal is to hit all 7 continents!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All the surfers I've met have been wonderful, contributing their knowledge, background, travel stories, food, art, sense of humor, and additions to our growing number of coffee table signatures! LOVE it!

Like I said above, I think both hosting AND surfing has led me to the understanding of just how powerful a program like this can be. In a world of mistrust and fear of the unknown, Couchsurfing breaks down those barriers and opens new doors to understanding and compassion with people from around the world. It sort of takes your breath away!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- all kinds
Movies- anything funny, romantic or spellbinding
Books- young adult lit. always takes first place in my book!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I have ever done was the Blackwater Rafting tour of the Waitomo caves in New Zealand. It was an enormous rush, as well as mentally and physically challenging. It started with a 37 M abseil into a darkened cave, zip lining deeper into darkness, jumping into a frigid underground river system and paddling, wadding, climbing, ducking and swimming my way through the caves. I didn't think I would be able to get through it all, but I did, and it has most definitley changed my views on my strength and courage.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach. I love to learn.

What a perfect way to share these things!

I have taught many things including-

Swimming
English
Spanish
Singing
American Red Cross CPR/First Aid
Lifeguarding
stamping/card making
baking
Theatre/Set building

I am willing to learn ANYTHING!
One of my couchsurfers even taught me to belly dance! Awesome!
