About Me

I'm a former bartender from Portland, Oregon, USA who got sick of the business and now I'm trying something different. I want to try and make it in the travel industry as a travel photographer. It will take a lot of hard work and inspiration but, hey, nothing in this life worthwhile was ever easy right? I've traveled to over 20 countries and 5 continents in the span of 5 years and I've decided Southern Africa should be my next stop. I'll be there in early 2017 to shoot lots of photos and meet lots of people :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The touristy stuff can be lame and mundane sometimes. I want to have a more local and authentic experience. One day, when I have my own home and couch, I want to support couchsurfers in the same way, helping them realize their full potential and share with the same wonder I feel for travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all types of music though hip hop, classical, and rock have always been my greatest loves. Currently I'm into Future R&B and Alternative Hip-Hop. A few of my favorite movies include: Blade Runner, Baraka/Samsara, Lord of the Rings, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Meru. Though I have always enjoyed fiction novels, I'm currently reading lots of self-help and textbooks to improve my photography and web design skills.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in the heart of the Annapurna region during the 2014 Nepal Snowstorm disaster. I trekked all day through the blizzard and ended up sleeping in a shed because there were no more beds in the village. It's a long story, and certainly not the most harrowing/proudest thing I've ever done, but it's a hot topic when people ask me about my travels.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is a collaborative effort and we all need to contribute. I look forward to learning from and helping other people and I hope that I may do the same for them in return.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll do my best to share my stories and insights into this crazy world we live in, and I can be there to listen to whatever my host would like to talk about. I'm a flexible person, who I can get along fine in just about any situation, and I enjoy helping in any way. I believe respect is one of the most important things a person can have so I will be very respectful and grateful to my hosts. I'm also a decent cook who doesn't mind cooking for others :)
