About Me

I’ve been away from CS for a while. I live in Alameda, CA. I teach high school and my wife works in construction. I teach AP Psychology and AP Environmental Science at a Title I School. I am passionate about social and environmental justice as well as world cultures. I have a PhD in biology and was a Fulbright Fellow in Jerusalem, Israel. I’ve traveled to 25 countries. I’ve taken a road trip the entire length of Baja, CA and trekked in Lesotho. In 2013, I visited Tahrir Square and snuck into a meeting between John Kerry and Morsi’s Foreign Minister by pretending to be a journalist. I was promptly and forcefuly ejected but I do have a photo of Mr. Kerry’s nose. I’ve been to the Southernmost tip of South America and spent a week kayaking in the Haida Gwaii islands. I’ve traveled on foot, horse, raft, kayak, boat, hitchhiking, car, bus, train, and plane.
