Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Wandering Wonderer travelling around NZ.
ABOUT ME
I originally came to NZ with the intention of walking from the top of the north island to the bottom of the south island following the Te Araroa pathway. However, I made it only 300k before decided no amount of beautiful scenery could compensate for serious injury. I'd love to come back to NZ to try again, but next time I'll bring at least two other people and some rope! Since then I've been travelling the north island and lived in Wellington for 6 months. It's soon time to explore the stunning south island, everyone says its beyond anything I could imagine, and I'm so excited to see it!
I'm 29 from England and am a social and chatty smiley person. I love to read and hike and do tai chi, to hear stories from other people about all the amazing things they get up to and what's it's like to live other places.
PHILOSOPHY
We are all free to do as we wish.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Here in Wellington I've been living at The Bruce in Brooklyn. We've had at least one couchsurfer with us every week for months now. It's always great to have so many different people coming and going. We operate The Bruce couchsurfing through our housemate Joe, see a link to his page to see the people we've hosted etc. http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=NALXY8U&from_search&search_ranking_hosts=2
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One of the best guys I've ever met I met through couchsurfing. He came to crash for a few days and we loved him so many we put a tent up in the garden just so he could stay longer. I've met people from more places in the world than I've been to, couchsurfing opens so many doors and introduces you to continuously fascinating people.
Interests
I love to read and am really impressed with the libraries in NZ. I try to practice tai chi everyday (I do Wu style) and I love to learn. I'm nearly always trying to learn something!
- walking
- gardening
- traveling
- juggling
- hiking
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a big Fantasy and Sci-Fi book fan. Fiona McIntosh, Karen Miller, Jim Butcher, Trudi Canavan to name a few favourite authors. The Count of Monte Cristo is my favourite book of all time (so far)!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I celebrated the Maori New Year celebration of Takaroa with the Tuhoe Maori in the depths of the Urewera forest last year. It was the most spiritual group experience I've ever had and I'm eternally grateful for being invited.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to teach people some basics of tai chi and chi gung. I can juggle and can teach pretty much anyone how to juggle in one hour.
