About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To grow wiser, kinder, and happier pursuing everyday's adventure

ABOUT ME

I'm very easygoing, friendly, and open-minded. I'd like to travel the right way and discover places from the inside out, by meeting and connecting with locals and other travellers. I'm not one to see a day go wasted, or turn down an adventure. Couchsurfing implies a great deal of trust, and I feel it's not only necessary to be trustworthy, but also to be trusting of others, and I hope to set an example of that.

PHILOSOPHY

Be the best person you can be for yourself and the ones around you. Question the status quo. Never judge or assume. Be humble. Be trustworthy. Be empathic. Recognize that everyone has something to offer, and there is something to learn from them. Be loving. Listen. Live today.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I got introduced to it a few years back and I really loved the idea. I got on board, but I've been too busy to travel, and I also can't really host yet. But I hope those things will change as soon as I complete my degree.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only been a host once, and it wasn't actually through CS. With just this one experience, I gained one of my dearest friends, and I feel that through CS there you can have great times and cross paths with wonderful people. I'm always looking forward to the next person I meet.

I've Couchsurfed once in Denmark in 2014 and I really loved it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music has always been a big thing for me, and the connection is both emotional and cerebral. I like (attempting) to play any instrument I can get a hold of. Of course, listening to new music and meeting musicians is great, always eye-opening. Some music I'm admiring these days: Animal Collective, Fleet Foxes, Oneohtrix Point Never, Ariel Pink, Real Estate, Deer Hunter, John Maus, Washed Out, The Radio Dept., Tame Impala, Grizzly Bear, The Beach Boys, Wild Nothing, Panda Bear, The Knife, Mac DeMarco... too many to count, better off just listen :)
I also enjoy recording music with a mini home studio.

I adore watching movies of all kind, slow or fast, short or long, sad or happy or completely incomprehensible. Some choice picks: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, le Scaphandre et le Papillon, Enter the Void, There Will Be Blood, Planete Sauvage, El Topo, The Squid and the Whale, Fantasia, Mulholland Drive, City of God, Moonrise Kingdom, Annie Hall, 2001 Space Odyssey...

I'm a slow reader, but I actually get finish a few books a year. Some examples:The Stranger, If on a WInter's Night a Traveller, A Clockwork Orange, a few books by Murakami, Dune, 1984, The Doors of Perception, The Man Suit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Staying up all night in NYC, and then driving to Coney Island to catch the sunrise (Thanks Bota!).

Swimming in 5ºC Canadian lake water for too long during a camping trip.

Taking a boat to the Island of Farasan in the middle of the night with a Saudi navy captain. Also, getting stung by a massive jellyfish while scuba diving the day after.

Crossing the St-Laurence river on an old train bridge on foot, à la Stand By Me. Needless to say, I was not run over by a train.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Arabic, playing drums or guitar, recording music, fixing a bicycle, how to make taboulé, how to plant a permaculture garden, how to forage wild mushrooms and plants, how to live off the grid... building engineering principles I suppose, but that may not be very fun

Learn: how to grow plants, to dance, to let go, to live modestly, to make masks, to record analog music, to draw illustrations, to build musical instruments, to be more open, to travel alone... there are so many things to learn.

Countries I’ve Visited

Barbados, Denmark, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
