About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make gripping cinematic films about life’s precarious balance, love and catastrophe, fear of monsters, obsession on small things, fixation on big things and the expansive transformative power of hopes and dreams on the soul.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the countryside near Brisbane, Australia. In my teens my passion for the arts and in particular architecture led me to hand-build an ancient Egyptian-inspired sculptural house. In my early 20’s I completed a degree in piano performance and composition at Queensland Conservatorium before turning to filmmaking as a professional career.

I write, direct and shoot films. I aspire to make the best films possible about the transformative power of hopes and dreams. I believe people can change the world and love telling stories about epic journeys. I love people gripped by inexorable obsessions, people driven by love, fear or both.

My recent credits include The Grammar of Happiness: a film about a controversial linguistics theorist and an Amazonian tribe, The Curse of the Gothic Symphony: a feature documentary about music and obsession, The Worm Hunters: a film about hunting worms and Rare Chicken Rescue: a film about overcoming depression through loving chickens. At the moment I'm working on a six-part ABC series: Will’s Big Aussie Twitch about Australian birds and their devotees.
