Hi there, my name is Raphi (short for Raphael) and I'm a 23 years old medical student from Germany. Starting in Juli 2022 I left Germany to spend a semester abroad in Australia followed by backpacking a couple of months through different countries in Asia. As this experience was extremely impressive and memorable, I would like to create a new experience in new countries. That's why I decided to travel around in Asia again for about 2 months this summer (August and September).
I really love sports, almost every single one, but I'd rather play them by myself than watch them on TV. I also started to enjoy and appreciate meeting strangers, especially on my recent travels, because you get so many great insights on the real life in a country, and not just the touristy side. Another thing I really enjoy is hiking! The worlds nature is incredibly amazing, and exploring it by foot just helps me relaxing and enjoying it even more. The most impressive hike I ever did was to the Mount Everest Base camp in Nepal, which was simply beautiful and stunning.
Currently, I study in the beautiful Austrian city Innsbruck, which has stunning nature and mountains all around the town.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As mentioned above, I really enjoy meeting locals who can tell me a lot about their own country, their culture and their way of life. For me, travelling means to get insights on exactly that, and not just going to a touristy hotel, where you can't really experience anything about the country. The memories created with different people showing me different insights of their life and their hobbies are the one's I remember the most.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love action and comedy movies. My music taste is wide and contains the whole range between Dance and sometimes Rap. Recently, I am hearing a lot of Pop and Dance. What I appreciate about music is that there are specific songs which connect to a specific memory or adventure, so whenever I return to said song, I get reminded of a great experience I had.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Deciding to go on a solo roadtrip in New Zealand was the most impressive holiday I've ever had. The nature there is soooo stunning and the people there are really friendly. I was able to make a lot of new friends and learn a lot about New Zealand and its culture.
