Overview
About Me
My name is Raphael and I was born and raised in Berlin. My father is german and my mother is french (so I have both nationalities, and can speak french fluently), and went to european school. I moved to Leipzig for my music studies, having the electric bass as main instrument, but I really enjoy playing classical guitar, too.
I currently work as a tour-musician for a german pop-act, and I have my own band "Still in the Woods", playing concerts all over Europe.
I would say that I like to take time for everything that I do, also enjoy being lazy sometimes. And I'm jealous of people who are able to get up early (like my girlfriend :P). But I'm very patient, and love to listen to stories from other people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because it is nice to have a direct connection to someone living in a city where you maybe know nobody. It can help you explore places in a completely different way; when you are in a hostel, it is sometimes expensive and difficult to get to know the city by your own. And I would love to open my doors to other people, here and then.

Music, Movies, and Books
Tarantino Movies ("Reservoir Dogs", "Django Unchained", etc..), Louis de Funès Movies ("La Grande Vadrouille", "L'aile ou la cuisse", etc..), Shutter Island, Black Mirror, Rick&Morty, The Simpsons, South Park, Yellow Submarine, Spinal Tap
I'm a huge fan of belgian and french comics (Asterix, Gaston Lagaffe, Titeuf, le petit Spirou, etc..), but I really read various kinds of books. The last one that really captivated me was a John Lennon Biography
As a teenie, I was more into different kinds of Rock Bands (Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Stripes, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix,..), but my music listening has evolved to a more jazz, soul, hip hop kind of way. Anyway, I love to discover other people's musical taste, so I don't think we will have a problem here :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Fencing. I did it for 10 years and it really helped me to grow up, learn from mistakes and to learn that losing is ok. And I met my first Band in the fencing club. Definetely a good experience :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Everything that has to do with music, stories from tour-life, knowledge of both german and french culture. When I'm with Paula she can also share other experiences, with textile crafting for example
