About Me

It's always hard to describe oneself but if you would ask friends of mine how they would describe me, I believe they would say something like open-minded, respectful, understanding, emotionally balanced, curious, disciplined, outgoing, sociable, pragmatic and a person that tell you when he disagrees even if you don't want to hear it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I belive that Couchsurfing gives the perfect opportunity to meet with people that would never meet eachother in their daily life. Which doctor meets an artist and has actually time to speak about the art and not about the symptoms of the artist in the doctor's studio? Which sociologist would ever meet a manager in a context that invites for exchange of ideas? This is why I think Couchsurfing is a wonderful and fruitful community.

In addition, I like that Couchsurfing has no commercial objectives, it is not AirBnB where the main objective is to make a bit of money but here the goal is to just share what you have an meet new people. The other person is still in the center of Couchsurfing and not the money.

Interests

I am very interested in what I study, I follow the political news quite much and I like to understand the connections and interests between nations and other international actors like businesses or other interests groups. Additionally, I like to stay with my friends, go partying, do sports and travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was a teenager, I listened to Rammstein, System of a Down, Breaking Benjamin, Slipknot, Nightwish but also Seed and Bob Marley. Today, I still listen sometimes to them but I also like very different types of music like classical music, "middle age" Rock like In Extremo or calm songs from Lodovico Einaudi.

I do love to watch movies and series. I could name now plenty of movies but that would be to much. The only one's I want to name specifically are the series "Game of Thrones", "Taboo" and "Black Sails" which are amazing series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I actually remember when I was 17, my ex-girlfriend and me had recently broken up and her parents consequently did not allow me to visit her again. However, she and I wanted to meet again and to do so, I "broke in" into the house of my ex-girlfriend climbing up to the balcony of her room to the first floor where she opened me her window so that I could enter. The parents did not realize that at that point in time but later the father heard us in her room and he almost destroyed her wooden locked door until she told him through the door "relax papa, you know him". Immagine how embarrissing it has been, when I wanted to leave in the morning and the father invited me to eat breakfast with him...

Another thing, but that I would like to share later, when we meet, are my experiences that I made during my civil service in Bethlehem, Palestine. I have spent there one year after my high school diploma and this year was extreamly interesting, challenging and amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with you a story of a German guy from Berlin who lived in Palestine for one year when he was 19, who studies Germany, Italy and France and aims to work all over the world!

What I will learn from you depends on you, but I would love to learn from you about your country and your culture. I believe that it is necessary to live with someone from a different culture before one can even start to understand another person's culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I said in the field of "Teach, Learn, Share", I can share all my stories and experiences that I have. Additionally, I am a good sparring partner when it comes to controversial discussions.

Practically and materialistically, of course I am willing to contribute something to the costs of the house. Let it be that I pay the food while I stay at your place or that I pay some "Thank-you" Euros. When it come to services, I could for example wash the dishes or help you in other subjects in which I have a sufficient expertise. Cooking does not count to those subjects :-)
