About Me

ABOUT ME

I was born in Brazil, but I have been living in Denmark for over 10 years. I've also lived in the US, and (briefly) in Sweden. I'm a vegetarian.

PHILOSOPHY

"without music, life would be a mistake."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed once in Stockholm back in 2009 with my friend Katy, and more recently in Italy (2016). Both times were very interesting experiences, and I hope I can do it again.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great. People were very kind, and very helpful - and they respected our privacy.

Interests

Writing music is my passion, but listening and discovering new music is also something I love to do.

Movies, I am a cinephile.

Football (soccer). Yes, I don't want to be the stereotypical Brazilian, but I do love it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm mostly into Brazilian music, from the folkloric side to the jazzier side of it. I'm also into classical music, particularly 20th-century classical music, and modern jazz. Besides, I'm also into Argentinian, Latin American music, Japanese folk music, Indian classical music, Central African polyphonic music, and all kinds of non-western stuff.

I love books such as Shogun, Silence, all of Tolkien's books, The Road, Lost city of Z, etc. And musicians' biographies :-).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Released an album (which you can hear on Spotify, "Raphael Gimenes & As Montanhas de Som")

Teach, Learn, Share

I can shares stories of the places I've lived and visited. I can also talk about a musician's life, and how it is to be an immigrant in Denmark. I can talk about anything, really! Very open-minded.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The same as above: stories about living in four different countries and my life as a musician. I can also cook Brazilian food (if I find the ingredients!) and play some music (that will depend on how shy I feel though :-)!)

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, Sweden, United States
