About Me

I’m pianist and I play Brazilian music and jazz. I graduated in music and besides playing I teach piano in Brazil.
I live in São Paulo - Brazil and although the town is very busy and life here is on the run, I consider myself a quiet and fun person. I enjoy meeting new people and new cultures.
It's my first trip to Europe but it will be the first of many, for I have a great desire to get to know new places, countries, people, cultures ...
I have an intermediate English level, but I believe that it should be enough to communicate well. If the hosts are patient we can talk and communicate for sure!
I don’t smoke but I don't have problems with that.
I love children and animals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to Amsterdam for a one-week course that I will take at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
I'll stay in Amsterdam from June 27th to July 11th, and the course will take place from July 4th to July 8th.
I decided to look for couchsurfing since I believe it is an interesting way to meet new people who live in the country where I will spend that time and I also think it is a way to get to know how it is to live in a country so different from mine.
Also, the costs of accomodation are really expensive for Brazilians in Europe, because our currency (Real) is very depreciated.
I believe it is a way to unite two things - the need to diminish costs and the desire to get to know more people and to exchange life experiences.

Interests

I will be in Amsterdam in the period from June 7th to July 11th and after that, from July 26th to July 27th.
I'm looking for a place where I can spend the night during the festival week, because in that week I will be spending most of the time in the conservatory. I believe, unfortunately, that I will not have much time to spend with the people who receive me this week (between July 4th to July 8th).
During the other days I'll be on tour and I would like to meet people and places, exchange cultural experiences and make new friends.
From July 26th to July 27th I would need a place to spend the night because my flight to Brazil leaves in the evening.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot Brazilian instrumental music (samba, bossa nova, Brazilian rythms) and jazz.
I also listen to classical music and world music. My profession requires me to have a wide musical repertoire, and I'm in the pursuit! Among mý favorite composers and musicians are Chick Corea, Hermeto Paschoal, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancok, Debussy...
My taste in movies is quite eclectic. Among some of which I enjoy are The Grand Hotel Budapest, The Lady, The Shawshank Redemption, Peaceful Warrior...
I’m currently reading The heart of philosophy (Jacob Needleman).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I believe there is beauty and surprises both in big and small things. Perhaps surprising to me is not necessarily to do something great, I do not know if I have done something like that, but I think that what matters is to live intensely each day, with its surprises and wonders. Every place where I've been, the people I met and the friendships I made, always brought something amazing and wonderful into my life and as a way of gratitude I try to give back the best of me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the culture and the music of my country. If the hosts have a piano in the house and they like music, I'd like to play for everyone!
Also, I like to cook and I could share some recipes from the Brazilian cuisine with the hosts!
