Overview
About Me
Well, my name is Rasmus, and i live in Copenhagen where I until recently studied biotechnology at a danish gymnasium. I now have a gap year between gymnasium and university where I travelled Southeast Asia and lived in Italy. I'm now training for my first Ironman in August.
After this I plan to study political science at University of Copenhagen.
I really like to think that you have to live while you can, that's the main reason why i practice extreme sports.
I've practiced karate for 8 years, i don't have the time for it now, but the philosophy that comes with it means a lot to me. The ability to breathe deep, have self discipline, respect and tolerance.
I have traveled a lot, mostly exchanges and conferences arranged by the gymnasium. I have so far been to Ireland, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Finland, Iceland, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Hungary as a part of my education. I also travel with something called "MUN" and "MEP" which is "Model United Nations" aka. people from all over the world who try to "simulate" UN and "Model European Parliament" which is similar to UN.
I have so far been to 5 of those conferences.
Else i like participating in scientific conferences, in October 2014 i participated in Investiga I+d+I in Madrid where i met with other young people (and met my Italian girlfriend) from all over the world and investigated graphene and other "green" solutions to the environmental problems.
I really have a lot of things to say, stories to tell. I am an enjoyable open-hearted person, and i really love the thrill of living and experiencing amazing places!
I'm a distinctive person, and i have the "drive" for whatever i want to accomplish, be it the homework, a new language or a sport challenge.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in a sustainable world, and i want to contribute positively to it. Inspired by my cousin I hope to work internationally and fight for a better world.
I like quotes, here's one of them:
“Dare to Be
When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.
When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.
When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.
When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.
When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.
When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.
When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.
When times are tough, dare to be tougher.
When love hurts you, dare to love again.
When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.
When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.
When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.
When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.
When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.
When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.
Dare to be the best you can –
At all times, Dare to be!”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The reason why I am on Couchsurfing.......
Well, the reason I tried Couchsurfing in the first place was mainly because I believed that it could be a more enjoyable/ giving experience than normal travelling. I also wanted to be able to meet unique and open-minded people and make friends around the world.
After I tried it I was confirmed in my belief that it was a much funnier and giving experience. It was amazing to meet people from other cultures with different mindsets and experiences, and I felt as if you really learned a lot during the process.
So some of the reasons why i am here:
1. I enjoy and love learning from some of the amazing people on this site.
3. I think it's so much fun
4. I believe you get some unique experiences with it
5. I like the thrill of going random places and meeting new people.
6. I have this dream of making friends all over the world
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In the summer holiday of 2014 i went on my first couchsurfing trip, I couchsurfed in Paris, La Rochelle and Biarritz and had amazing experiences!
When I was doing volunteer work in Central America I used couchsurfing in El Salvador and Costa Rica which brought me unforgetable experiences such as sitting on top op a mountain with random people, playing music and singing until late in the night while watching the lights of the city below.

Teach, Learn, Share
I've tried a lot despite my young age and have some things i can share:
I can show you why the danish people are among the happiest in the world
I know English and Danish well.
I know about windsurfing, karate, diving, swimming, running, cycling, training with your own bodyweight, and a lot about some of the other sports/activities I've practiced and might be able to teach a thing or two..
I'm a good orator and give tips on how to give a speech or stand in front of a crowd or how to debate politics.
I know how to give a massage
I know how to fix neck/back/lower back problems if they are not too serious.
I myself just want to learn! Meet all the unique people out in the world who might teach me something.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would say that I can be a really enjoyable and non-cumbersome person to have staying.
I'm a very happy, open-minded and polite person who's not afraid to break the ice and have fun. I have tons of stories despite my young age and I can adapt to the most.
I'm very extrovert and always ready to have fun, but I'm also respectful and won't wake you up in the middle of the night or be any trouble.
