About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I intend to spend my life combating boredom, hurling myself headlong in the most unexplainable paradoxes, talking to people, thinking about people, listening to people, and figuring out what I want to do today

ABOUT ME

After living in China for a few years (teaching English to future English teachers), I decided to get married and move to Thailand. My husband is ethnically Kachin (from Burma), so our household is full of linguistic and cultural ambiguity. Now we're here in Thailand hanging out while I teach 5 year-olds at a local private school and he finishes up his degree.

We are both pretty laid back, but enjoy a good laugh or interesting conversation. My husband has lived in the Chiang Mai area for about 6 years and is a bit of a history buff, so he knows more about the place than I do.

My hobbies here seem to mostly involve looking for interesting creatures that don't live in my hometown (like shiny beetles, green snakes, and gekos), making friends with the neighborhood dogs, and searching for ways to escape into the jungle.

PHILOSOPHY

I haven't put this in credo form, but I value relationships and reconciliation, humility, wisdom, thoughtfulness, and humor (unless it is in the form of a pun).

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know that the Mandarin word for 'claw' is 爪子, pronounced, 'zhua zi。‘ Coincidentally the pronunciation is the same, or at least similar, to the Sichuan dialect for 'what are you doing?!'
