Overview
About Me
I may be wandering, but not aimlessly. I love a lot of things: the arts, conversation, people, history, movies, wandering and wine. Of course we all love to travel, and over the years I have learned to let go and enjoy the chaos of travel. I also spend a lot of time working/ at work, and I really value the rest of it. I also love being by myself in spare time, but am decent company. So if I do host you, please feel free to explore the city on your own.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For the last few years I have lived in very small towns in Canada, where we never ever have visitors. This means that, although I do have couches (and an occasional bed) available, there is nary a visitor to use them.
This also means I find it hard to get started on CS, because I do not have many references.
Yet, I am on it because I am fascinated by the connection among people. There is a reason why we cross paths with certain people, and there is a reason why we get along. Every traveller and non-traveller has stories, and that is what I would like to learn.

Music, Movies, and Books
All sorts! Love classics to read, musicals to watch, and cannot choose what to listen to. I am a big movie nerd though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Been a journalist
And thrown out of offices for asking questions
Had fondue in Switzerland
Took a dip at the mouth of a glacier
Trusted strangers in NYC
Spent a day in Auckland with 8 dollars precisely
Haggled with security at the airport in Santiago, when I did not speak Spanish and he did not speak English
Got lost in Aberdeen, Scotland
Did not visit a single mall in Dubai
...and recently rode a horse in the Rockies!
Teach, Learn, Share
You learn a little from every person you meet. I take every experience as transient, and reformative. Life is too overpowering for us to control everything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have rarely been awkward at conversation. I can make amusing conversation with almost everyone, as long as we speak similar languages.
I have worked as a journalist, with NGOs and with the environment. I have a fair number of stories.
I come from two cultures, and can tell you about both of them. I also have a PhD degree, so there is no dearth of polemical banter :D
More than that, if I am sending you a request, I probably found your profile interesting, and felt that we could get along even as strangers.
