About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spread love and peace all over the world, it is a very labour intensive work, but someone must do it! ;)

ABOUT ME

I am an adventurous, outgoing and energetic person, who makes friends very easily. I like to joke a lot, be able to laugh at myself and enjoy life in every possible way. I enjoy meeting new friends from all around the world and get to learn new and interesting things about their cultures and way of life. Spending time with high spirited, outgoing and youthful people comes naturally to me and you will usually find me getting up to mischief with said friends after a few drinks.

I feel that life is too short to waste any time at all pretending to like something that you do not just because it is the norm. If you are sad or lonely or upset, the power lies within yourself to fix it and find a solution! So come brothers, sisters and soulmates of the world, let us rid this world of the lurgy that is self pity!

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live is what I say! I think people should be tolerant of other people's views and not be so quick to judge everyone by the same measures. No one is perfect and not everyone has had the same life experiences, so there will always be differences of opinions and views about everything. Its all these distinct differences that make exploring this unique planet and its numerous countries such an interesting and pleasurable experience :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have recently moved to Aachen to start my new job. I have travelled a lot in the past few years to Australia, USA, Iceland, Israel, France, Italy, Thailand, Belgium and now in Germany. I enjoy immersing myself in new cultures and getting to know the people and the joys of living in their respective countries. Since moving to Aachen 3 weeks ago, I have explored the immediate area, and now am ready to explore a bit further, especially the Nordic countries of Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couchsurfing experience yet!! But recently one of my friends travelled to Denmark and she had an amazing trip there with the hosts. So that has spurred me on to try and explore my new surroundings through the amazing portal that is couchsurfing!

Interests

I thoroughly enjoy cooking and entertaining my friends with new dishes and cuisines (you say guinea pigs... I say pioneers! haha!). My favourite cuisine has to be French followed closely by Italian mainly because of the huge variety of dishes from many regions that you can spend your whole life creating and discovering something new! I also like cooking Thai and Japanese cuisine. I would love to cook Indian cuisine but unfortunately as I am not even close to matching my mom's skills yet, I am still in the process of learning!

Outside of the kitchen I enjoy drinking and experimenting with different cocktails (although some might say this is also in the kitchen!) and somewhat fancy miself as a novice bartender (ala Tom Cruise in Cocktail).

Ok then really out of the kitchen, I enjoy socialising with friends over drinks (these are from a bar!), launching into impromptu debates about life, love, politics, sports, nature and anything else under the sun.

I also enjoy just losing myself in music and raving, dancing like there was no one else in the room but me, be it in a club, or concert or sometimes just in my car!

Fitness is one thing that I have found to keep me sane, so I almost live in a gym, like to go hiking in any weather, running when possible and play football if Im not injured!

When I do find some time to unwind by myself, I enjoy classical music, painting and learning new languages. Currently I am improving my German and have decided to learn Italian.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I can watch anything but certain movies always get to me. "Donnie Darko" strikes a chord with me even to this day. Bio pics are not really my cup of tea but there is always one exception, for me it is "Walk the line". I have been hooked on Quentin Tarantino since I was a teenager! I am a big fan of "The Dark Knight" and the Matrix trilogy. But I reserve a special place for Pedro Almodóvar and unique masterpieces like "Hable con Ella" and "La piel que habito" because of his portrayal of our most basic human instincts, emotions and passion without diluting it. I also prefer to watch his movies in Spanish as you are more in touch with the original theme than through a dubbed version.

Music: I listen to what I feel like, some days its House, others its soul, today it is some essential Cafe del Mar. As long as the music resonates with my soul, I will listen and enjoy it, hence I have a very eclectic collection of music spanning different decades, genres and languages.

Books: I like reading Stephen Hawking's books on The Universe and Time. I have completed two of the Dwarves Trilogy by Markus Heitz and thoroughly enjoy reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series! :) Having read Charles Dickens, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, Tale of Two Cities during my school years, I am now re-reading them with a different perspective on life. Last year I completed the "Millennium series" by Stieg Larsson. Currently I am enjoying reading Tolkien's Lord of the rings and Tolstoy's "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I never cease to be amazed by our Universe, our planet, humanity and life itself, how it all seems so random and chaotic and organised and planned all at the same time. You can plan your life all you want, but it is not really in your control, so do the best you can with what life gives you and enjoy the ride!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am currently learning German and Italian so would be happy to practice my limited German and bad Italian with you in exchange for English. I can play badminton, table tennis and squash, so I can probably teach you how to play any of these sports. I am also a fitness instructor, so I can help you with a training plan and a few tips for weight training if needed.
Sharing...well I have a lot to share, but I think what you will value the most is time, friendship and love.
