About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stop and smell the roses :) - Ferris Bueller

ABOUT ME

I seem to love everything under the sun and am accused of being too aimless at times. I realise, the more I travel and more I see the world, the better chance I have of knowing what I would aim for. I love being around my friends and have a chance of making new ones. I try to keep in touch with everyone I can make a connection not only during my travels, but even that odd subway ride or while catching a drink at a pub as I believe everyone has a story to share. Something I might not get to experience myself but would love to hear and imagine myself being a part of it.

PHILOSOPHY

Life happens when you meet new people be a part of their experience and let them be a part of yours. Travel, meet people and learn their stories and have a story to share consequently.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Was a regular at the weekly CS meetings in Bonn listening to stories from locals and travellers and sharing some of my own. Whenever I travel, I try to meet up with fellow CSers in exploring the new place or try to attend any meetings/events there. I have never hosted or had to actually couch surf with anyone but hope to start doing both of them soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Checked into a hostel 1st day on a trip to Budapest and ran into a guy who invited to a couchsurfing meet up. Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but eventually had an amazing experience. Met so many people from around the world and heard their stories and quite amazed by how easily people mingle and invite you to share some experiences and have a fun time.

That was in 2012 since I have met an amazing number of people in weekly meetings at Bonn, explored London with others. Went to a house concert of a Musician from Canada in London hosted by a CSer which turned to be a memorable night. Rob the singer then came to Aachen of all places and caught up again shows me the world isn't that big a place.
Accepted a christmas dinner invitation from a couple I didn't know which will be my most memorable Christmas story now.

Interests

History, Incredible Architecture, Beautiful evening by a river, Whisky and Beer at an amazing bar, all kinds of food to try out, Following Formula 1, Football, Cricket and Tennis, Music, Movies and Books. Did I miss anything under the sun :P
I am interested in stories people have to tell and maybe one day gather them from most corners of everywhere :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Loads of movies to even begin to think of listing from classic romance to history and sci fi.
Wodehouse cheers me up always and fantasy sends me to a different land whenever I wish to escape the present.
Love to listen to Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd and various others. If they Rock, I am interested :)
Over the last few years my music playlists have broadened wider than ever. There is a lot of Post Rock, folk rock, techno in there somewhere. If I am not home, then I have always my headphones on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw the beauty of the himalayas up close in Sikkim. Had an amazing hike with my friends up a hill around 14000ft above sea level after a landslide blocked the road and we were the only ones for miles around.

Teach, Learn, Share

Walking around a place is the best way to enjoy it, better still catch a walking tour from a local and give those tour bus rides a miss.
If a bar is listed as one of the best in the city, try to make it a point to go there. Always a great chance of other similar minded people ending up in the same place :) Avoid hotels and stay in hostels if you can't couchsurf. You meet a lot of amazing people in those common rooms and dorms than in the hotel lobby.
