ABOUT ME

Who we are: Two young dreamers who are blissfully unsatisfied with simply "making it through" life. We are creative, artistic, and determined to experience the unexpected, bask in back-country beauty, and travel with not only open eyes, but open hearts. We are Chalyse Drake and Kristen Hedges.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On June 1st, 2011, we bid adieu to our cozy mountain town and headed out onto the open road. With a few hundred dollars, a tent, some gardening gloves, pens and cardboard signs, we traveled from coast to coast, city to city, in search of the real tale of America. We surfed in 6 different states with 6 beautiful families. Our experiences were all beautiful, and we are determined to spread our love of living & surfing with more hosts!

兴趣

Kristen: Living simply, laughing, exploring, adventuring. I love raw vegan deserts, banjos, the smell of old books, knitting, talking to strangers, black tea, camping, crickets, stargazing, dreadlocks, and laying in the grass. I'm a certified Yoga Teacher and plan on making a tour around the continent in 2013 to give free lessons in parks. I married the love of my life on March 24th, 2012, and moved with him to Fort Hood, Texas. We host folks traveling through Central Texas!

Chalyse: Playing outside, being a goof, making people laugh, connecting with people. My dog is my LIFE, I absolutely cannot live without that goob. I enjoy rolling down hills, grilling burgers and steaks (wanna BBQ?), interesting characters, and telling stories.

Kristen: I'm a documentary & Ray Bradbury kind of gal.

Chalyse: Oh, to name my favorite movie would be impossible. But I love any movie with Edward Norton in it. And anything and everything Charlie Chaplin has ever done warms my heart and inspires my imagination. I can tap my foot to nearly anything, but add a fiddle and a soothing acoustic guitar or put me in the middle of a crowd of a messy ska show and I will melt. I'm not a huge reader, but I love the National Geographic Magazines and non-fiction books.

Our Raw America trip in 2011 was the most life changing experience of all time. 2 months, 2 girls, 1 dog, 1 truck, 0 plans.
