About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To help my fellow travellers along the path to enlightenment and to become enlightened myself.

ABOUT ME

I am an artist, writer and astrologer. I wrote astrology columns online for many years. I am also very into healthy living, and taught classes on anti-aging and raw, vegan food. I love helping people eat better and heal their bodies, although I am not a trained nutritionist, but rather self taught due to my own poor health years ago.

I am a night owl, but my husband is an early to bed guy, so we have to respect that and control our decibels (although he sleeps thru most anything). We do love rock and roll, Zac and I (and alternative, psy-trance, blues...)

Also, I unschool my son, so he is usually home even during typical school months. (If you know what unschooling is please mention it - would love to meet you!)

As far as transportation, I can help some, although I would appreciate not being thought of as a taxi service. There is a bus stop a short walk from our house. We live on the Western edge of town near Warr Acres.

Please be aware you will need to pay for your own food while staying here. We can all pitch in on communal meals, which I will happily make as my schedule allows, but we can't at this time afford to pay for others' meals. The meals we eat here are 99% healthy, meaning no meat, no dairy, and only rarely, wheat. What we do a lot of is raw juicing of fruits and veggies, green smoothies for breakfast, lovely, creative salads for lunch or dinner, and sometimes we snack on seeds, nuts and dates for dinner, or just have fruit, or maybe a vegan stew or brown rice and veggies.

I am doing this couch hosting thing because I am always looking to meet new people from other walks of life. Not only is it the best way to learn new things for me, but I believe it would be an awesome life learning experience for Zac. Just wait till you meet him. He's uber smart. Quite the independent spirit, and is fully capable of keeping you up way into the wee hours of the night, discussing the big brother mind controlling tactics of typical schooling, peak oil, global warming, world water scarcity, Buddhism, or maybe health and nutrition. So if you are just looking for a bed and plan on being gone all the time, you might look for a hostel. The whole point is to connect with new ppl, right? So let's hang out and get to know each other. I'll make some healthy meals (sorry, no dead animals in the house allowed...too gross for this vegan), but I promise not to judge you, or give you a hard time whatsoever if you decide to eat meat somewhere else. I am not a food nazi. ;-)

I have blankets, sheets, plenty of pillows. The best times for us to host would be the weekends, however, we might be able to accommodate one day during the week. And as for the "How many days is too many" question...the answer depends entirely on how well we hit it off. Maybe 1 or 2 is good to start out with? Of course, if everyone is happy, we can add more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a mom, I am a host rather than a surfer at this point in my life. But who knows, I've been known to get up and go with little to no notice to loved ones. So you may get to reciprocate one day.
