Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to remember places I have been, things I have seen and people I have met. Not material things I have
ABOUT ME
I get along with everyone and can talk to anyone because I have always had so many different interests. As a teenager I was an athlete who was a smart nerd who also was a punk rocker….if that makes sense! Sometimes I can be the observant/thoughtful artist while others, if I am around the right people who bring it out of me, I can very outgoing. I think anyone who meets me knows that I am friendly, honest, funny and caring. I will do anything for my friends and feel great when I’ve helped someone. I think it’s important to be kind to strangers and people you cross paths with every day….even if you never speak to them. You never know how you can affect someone! If you asked my friends, they would say Rachel is an interestingly funny girl who would do anything for me! She’s the girl at a party or bar who will be in the corner having a intellectual serious conversation one minute and then having a 80’s dance off the next.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live in the 'now.' You can never find the past again and you never know what the future will bring. So it is important to live now as you want to so that you can have the future you want :) Embrace it and enjoy it! You cannot run away from truth or reality. I don't keep toxic energy inside me. I trust myself and am not afraid to follow my dreams.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have done several road trips that were amazing as well as surfed numerous times. We see this site as an amazing tool to meet new people and not as free accommodation. We hope to host when ever we may take a traveling break.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Amazing
Interests
I’ve always been interested in learning new things, seeing new places and meeting new people, I am extremely open minded and will try anything once. Things that grab my attention? People who are comfortable in their own skin, a good wine, beautiful art, when people go out of their way to help a stranger and most definitely the small things people take for granted. I love photography and taking pictures, art, animals (especially dogs) and traveling. In my free time, I will take a weekend trip by myself or with friends. Sometimes I will stay in my pajamas all day and enjoy doing nothing!

Music, Movies, and Books
Between both of our Ipods, you can find anything that you may fancy at any given moment...we are both a bit of music nerds 8p
Books...alright, well right now we are both reading "The Republic" and both already finished a great Buddhism book.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
With all the amazing philosophical revelations and personal growth we have both experienced from traveling aside, we have done some amazing things! Such as take authentic bush showers, sat on top of an active volcano that erupts every couple minutes and were within active Volcano killing range. Made burritos in a station wagon with a portable cooker because that is what we wanted, it was raining and we were living out of a car. Lived 2 months in the rainforest with the leeches, the rats, snakes and the Funnel web spider Kevin caught, climbed cliffs and waterfalls etc etc.... We had our first kiss (awwww) in the middle of a Blue Lake on a rock in Mt Kosciusko, Australia. (We had to swim through freezing glacial water to do it, too.) Got tattoos on a kitchen counter in a guest house in Fiji while enjoying Mcdonalds and an ice cold Fiji Bitter. We make it a goal to do things that not many others have done. We actually have the discussion before sometimes...but usually after :) We're like, "How many people have done this I wonder??"
And not only all this, but we have had complete strangers from all over the world, not only open up their homes to us but treat us like family.
Teach, Learn, Share
I painted this on a wall (with permission of course) "In the confines in which our past has placed us, we are absolutely free right now." I read this in a great book, "Hard Core Zen" by Brad Warner.
Kevin saw a billboard with the quote, "Live for something or you will die for nothing." We got the tattoos now! (Oh, the great story of our Fiji Tattoos :p )
