About Me

I've been living in Taiwan as a teacher since 2010. Love to travel though I haven't done too much couch-surfing, but my wife and I have done some house-sitting on TrustedHouseSitters.

My wife and I traveled for over a year during 2018, visiting Indonesia, Myanmar, India, Nepal, New Zealand, and the USA. I also went backpacking solo for a year in 2005-2006 to India, Nepal, and Thailand. I went back to India and Nepal again in 2008-2009, and ended up living in Thailand for over a year, teaching English.

I love long trips and staying in one place for a while to really relax and enjoy one area or city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Great way to meet people in foreign land, get the local feel, see how people live there, and hopefully get some inside knowledge and local secrets about where to go and what to do.

Interests

I have a very active mental life and I read constantly, watch lots of movies and TV shows, read news articles every day. I love talking about movies or books, videogames, current events, history, whatever. I read all kinds of different books, from history, to journalistic novels, to sci-fi, fantasy, classic literature, modern stuff.

I've done quite a bit of traveling, spent lots of time in India, Nepal, Taiwan and Thailand, especially. I live in Taiwan now but my wife and I are planning to immigrate back to the USA in 2020.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to name... But I love just about any genre of music, truly, as long as it's good. Rock, Electronic, Classical, Jazz, the Blues, Hip-Hop, Motown, Funk, Oldies, Classic Rock, Indie Rock, Indietronica, House, Jungle, Trip-hop, Country, Folk, Bluegrass, even Pop. I love ANY music, as long as it's good and true and comes from the soul and isn't just studio trash crapped-out to make money...

I am a drummer myself and I'm learning to produce music with Ableton Live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Married an amazing, gorgeous woman.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English, as that's my job. Phonics, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation... Great with teaching kids.

Can teach hand-drumming too, a bit.

Also I'm good at repairing computers, both hardware and software. I can help you fix or just clean-up your PC!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a very respectful and clean person. I will absolutely respect your home and your space. Definitely hope I can treat you to a meal or some drinks for being so kind as to host me!

I'm a decent cook and a vegetarian (I eat eggs and dairy). My wife and I cook most of our meals at home so perhaps we can exchange recipes or cook together? Or I'd be happy to cook you breakfast or dinner.

And of course, conversation. I love to chat, and I can converse intelligently on most subjects under the sun, especially with a few beers. ;)
