About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life while you can, before it's too late.

ABOUT ME

We've been together for a long long time. And fortunately no, contrary to what is said about long time couples, we haven't grown to look like each other. And I refuse to dress like each other, you won't catch us in matching t-shirts. But the difference is what keeps us clicking together, opposites attract. We do have similar goals in life (retire in good health so we can enjoy each other more), and that's what counts.

Both of us are born & raised native Clevelanders (OH), have recently sold The House and now live out of our Recreational Vehicle full-time. "Home is where the heart is" but we can at least claim Arizona as "home" for now since that is where the bulk of our "stuff" is that doesn't fit in the RV.

PHILOSOPHY

The journey is the adventure, not just the destination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We like to couch surf so we can meet others who are willing to share in their lives and open their homes, give us guidance on what to enjoy in their area, and see how they live -- what makes us different, what makes us alike. Our experiences as surfers has been incredible -- we look fondly on each of those whose generosity has touched our lives and would hope someday to meet again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our first time we surfed was spent in NYC that could have been an authentic CS experience when we look back -- by the end of our visit, our host was an honorary family member! We could laugh and poke at each other, we felt comfortable enough with each other.

Since then, we've had wonderful surfing travels in St. Augustine FL, Toulouse FR, and Lyon FR, places we've never been before. Each one of those hosts were exemplary. Each family took us in and made us feel at home.

Interests

motorcycle traveling, camping in an RV "off the grid" (such freedom when you have less), scooter rallies are liberating fun!
We also have shared our interest of "Dutch oven cooking" -- outdoor cooking with cast iron Dutch ovens -- when we are traveling in the RV, we have cooked many meals for family and friends with the Dutch ovens in the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fran likes Quentin Tarentino movies and smutty romance novels.
Ray likes war movies and anything to do with The Godfather.
Music -- wide range -- bluegrass is good, classic rock, starting on country, love R&B, music of the 70s (hey! we had fun at the disco), the instrumental mix they call "world", stuff with a danceable beat

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Motorcycled across the northeast US, all the way to Newfoundland and back. We started from Ohio, went across Maine, through Canadian Maritime provinces, ferried to Newfoundland, and back. A trip of a lifetime!
Also motorcycled down to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico from Cleveland, a somewhat fuzzy memory because Fran was running a fever part way. Amazing journey nonetheless.

Teach, Learn, Share

When we couchsurf, we never come empty-handed. We try to bring a small trinket from home as packing space is precious, whether it be a food item or even paraphernalia from our home, and share as to how these items are important to us. And if there is time, we like to have the opportunity to have a meal together whether we go out with our host or we cook together in their home (we are no strangers in the kitchen and would love to help, to see how you do things, and very willing to clean up!).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We have traveled across the US by RV many many times -- we can share our experiences on how it is to live this lifestyle.
