About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience life to the fullest.

ABOUT ME

Originally from the Chicagoland area, I caught the travel bug when I studied abroad on Semester at Sea in 2008. Since then I've tried to fit as much travel in as I could in between college classes and selling kitchen cutlery to finance my trips.
Upon graduating college I volunteered for a year in Colombia with WorldTeach and then spent a year teaching English in Brazil on a Fulbright scholarship.
After spending the past 2 years in South America I thought I'd give the whole 9-5 gig in the U.S. a shot and I recently moved out to New York City to work as an executive assistant at HIAS, an international nonprofit that serves refugees.

PHILOSOPHY

Work hard, Play Hard

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Throughout my travels I have only couchsurfed (officially through Couchsurfing) a few times but I have met a lot of hosts/surfers through friends and Couchsurfing groups.

Interests

I love to meet new people, read, watch Ted talks, draw, paint, attend/Youtube slam poetry events, cook, learn/practice languages, host/attend dinner parties, dance, discover restaurants and bars, hangout with family and friends, and of course travel!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Garden State, Inception, Little Miss Sunshine, Dumb and Dumber, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Music: I tend to constantly have my ipod on shuffle- here are some names that come up often: Mumford and Sons, James Morrison, Lupe Fiasco, Emeli Sande

Books: too many to name, a few of my favorite authors include: Barbara Kingsolver, Dave Eggers, Jonathan Safran Foer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie- but I'll read pretty much anything I can get my hands on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2011 I taught in rural Colombia in the pueblo Santa Ana. I was able to build connections with some amazing people and I learned a ton from the Santa Ana community.

Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
