Music, Movies, and Books
Music: MUSIC IS LIFE. I think get hooked on something new about once a week. I believe my most recent kicks were Ojos de Brujo, Citizen Cope, The Sprout House Band, Tom Waits, Anias Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Cultura Profetica, Las Orishas, Junip, The Replacements, and the album "Dark was the Night." The Brass Messengers are my favorite local hometown band, because no one else can make my booty shake the way they can. And according to Last FM, my favorite song is "Oh La La" by the Faces, sung by Ronnie Wood (from the Rolling Stones).
Books: I don't think I have a favorite book, but I am in debt to "Travels With Charlie" for giving me the travel bug as kid. At the moment I'm mainly reading "Brewing Justice" on fair trade coffee. I read "A Sand Country Almanac" when I'm feeling spiritual; "La Isla Desconocida" when I want to practice my Spanish, and "Don't Know Much About History?" on the jon because apparently I learn US history better in the bathroom than in a classroom.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was traveling alone in Ecuador, I was hopelessly lost and didn't know how to get back to this community I was staying in. An old woman found me, told me that she was traveling alone too so that we had to look out for each other. I helped her into the back of a truck, and as soon as I climbed in, she held my hand for the whole ride. I'm continually struck by the amount of cariño that I've received on my journey through this life.

I'd like to learn how to play mandolin better, to throw pottery, do a handstand, make wine and beer, walk on stilts, fix bikes, and so many other things!
I can teach you all the phrases I know in Hindi, Luganda and Kiswahili
