About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To amble about in the linguistic cul-de-sac that is Hungarian.
ABOUT ME
Growing up in a close-knit town of 4,000 people in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada, wasn't easy. I was faced with a dilemma: do I get pregnant at 17 and live there forever like everyone else or do I dare step outside into a world even bigger and more exciting? I flipped a coin and opted for university and travelling.
PHILOSOPHY
All I've ever asked for in life is a good stew.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've decided to slow this juggernaut down and take up a life of leisure in Budapest. You're welcome to partake.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been known to paint living rooms when I overstay my welcome.
Interests
Reading, writing postcards, cooking peasant haute cuisine, encountering new languages, drinking coffee in public squares, eating pastries, wandering around cities, taking mass transit, visiting museums, learning obscure facts about countries, talking authoritatively about architecture, using terms like "Orientalist overtones" and "post-socialist kleptocracy" to validate my claims of being educated, maps and their accompanying rooms, and nature walks both adventurous and for the mild-grade enthusiast.

Music, Movies, and Books
Reading: I like books on Metternich, Russian detectives, Austria-Hungary, people who have travelled overland to Constantinople, scholarly geographic articles that are slightly cheeky, books set in the interbellum period, and those with nice shelf appeal.
Movies: Wet Hot American Summer
Music: acoustic covers of popular rap and Top 40 songs.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have successfully fended off two kidnapping attempts.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a skilled artist in the Microsoft Paint medium.
