About Me

CURRENT MISSION

::Explore Chicago, now that I live here! ::

ABOUT ME

You want to know about me, huh? Well, I could say it's complicated and I'm into all sorts of stuff.. But I won't. I'm actually a pretty simple, easy going young 25 year old Nanny here in Chicago. I have just moved to the City and am really excited to meet all the CSers that live and travel here!

I love to travel and meet new people from all over the world. I come from a big family and love to be around friends and families. I love music of most kinds and going to the theater! I have a very strong passion for photography and will capture every moment of my travels, guaranteed.

I enjoy life and take advantage of what I can. I am an appreciative person and will definitely be thankful for any hospitality! I am always up for anything: board games, drinking games, exploring new places, just chilling and watching a movie.. whatever. I also like to cook.

I always misspell "Thanks", would love to work for National Geographic someday, have weird friends that I love dearly, love to work and am probably the coolest dork you'll ever meet!

PHILOSOPHY

"What doesn't kill us makes us who we are!"

I also strongly believe in the human spirit. I think people are innately good, at the core of their existence. If you wait long enough, people will show you their good side- no one is all bad. Trusting people is difficult, but necessary. Judging people is rude and a waste of time. It takes much less energy and time to just accept people for their differences. Asking someone why they do a certain thing takes so much less time and energy than talking about them, and judging them. Learn something new about people who are different than you..you'll be surprised by how similar you and they really are. ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed almost everywhere I traveled in 2008: Ireland, Italy, Greece, Poland, Germany, Kansas City. 2009: Hosted Amish Extravaganza in Pennsylvania and was active in the Lancaster, PA group; Atlantic City trip with Csers from NYC/NJ, Central Illinois CS group; Active member of St. Louis CS group, including their 1st CouchCrash! 2011: St. Louis group. 2012: Chicago CS group, meetings, hosting!!!

I just started hosting in April 2012.. So far::

Julian, Vegas USA
Hunter, Indiana USA
Robert & Lizzie, New Zealand
Wing, China
Alex, Australia
Tanya, Germany
Joe, Bristol, U.K.

I do love to tell people about CS. In fact, I wrote a story about my travels and couchsurfing and it was published in my college alumni magazine! Everyone who knows me, knows that I love CS.. a lot of them think it is weird to sleep on strangers' couches, but my goal is to convince them it is actually really cool and exciting! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

visited 10 states (4.44%)Create your own visited map of The World

I have good and bad experiences with people through CS. There is nothing more annoying than someone not answering their phone after they have agreed to host you. Also, this is not a dating site and sadly, some people misuse it. However, the good ones have been great: Florence, Cork, Athens, Crete, Sparti, Patras, Rafina, Stuttgart, Krakow, Zywiec, Cologne.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Because of Couchsurfing I have had some of the best experiences of my life! Without meeting amazing people through CS, I would not have had the most amazing conversations in Greece, watched the sun set over Florence from atop Piazza del Michelangelo, stayed in an old Communist block apartment in Poland, or stayed out until 4 in the morning in Germany! AMAZING!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge of photography with anyone. I can learn from all situations. I am not the best teacher, but will try my best. Sometimes it is much better to be the student.
