ABOUT ME
**Important: I log in pretty much once every 3 days. If you want your request to go through to me, please make it 2-3 days in advance. Last minute requests are unlikely to be accepted. Also, please at least have one or two references!**
I am 26 years old and I have lived in Louisiana my whole life. I love to travel, be it for a music festival on a weekend in Rothbury, Michigan, or a stint with Americorps in Massachusetts, an impromptu trip to the Grand Canyon (totally did this before at 11:30 at night!) or even just a hiking trip 1 hour away or 10 hours away. I like to constantly keep my mind stimulated and try new things. I am currently working on my PhD in Sociology, which means I have winters open!
I am very easy to get along with. I love making new friends and talking to strangers. I am very open minded, and look forward to getting to know my fellow couch surfers! I have surfed all over the country and hosted several people from several countries.
PHILOSOPHY
Live a life worth living.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host, I surf. I like to take my couch surfers to the hidden or little known places tourists to my town, city, wherever I am living at any particular moment would not know to go to. I like to go on hikes, though they are a bit sparse in the Baton Rouge area, one of the things I miss about other places I have lived. I also love live music, dancing, nightlife, and enjoying all the culture that cities have to offer.
I also love showing people local food.
And being a Louisiana boy, I certainly don't mind pulling out a cold one or two and sharing it with you.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Been doing this for years... haha. I have no idea how many people I have hosted or surfed with.
Interests
I love sociology, hiking, camping, the great outdoors, any place with mountains, interesting people, interesting food, and the complexity of life.

Music, Movies, and Books
For music, anything bluegrass, jazz, funk, psychedelic rock, jam, and actually, quite a bit of electronica.
Music festivals... I love them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh the things I have seen and done. I've traveled the country, stayed in tents with a hundred thousand people in a field, wandered through some of the most beautiful and rarely seen environments on earth. I cliff dive from 50 feet, I climb and swim, and hike and camp. I have seen some of the best concerts on earth... String Cheese Incident in 2009 at Rothbury, Phish in 2009 at Bonnaroo, Pearl Jam's epic show 2008 at Bonnaroo, STS9 at Rothbury in 2008. I just got back from Wakarusa in the rain! The Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, Petrified National Forest, Berringer Crater... all places I've been to on a whim.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I can teach:
I have a lot of knowledge on philosophers, sociologists (my favorite is Durkheim), and scientists. I love physics, metaphysics, philosophy, cosmology, and the interaction of people (Working on my PhD in this right now). My education and life development have given me a special passion for sharing these thoughts to anyone interested and who might listen.
I'm a statistician, and I love football. I have Celiac, but I can show you some amazing ciders and whiskeys! :)
What I want to learn:
I want to learn about the life experiences of others. I want to learn how to cook new things. I want to learn the ins and outs of every major city in this country.
