About Me

CURRENT MISSION

wear sunscreen and floss... :)

ABOUT ME

I studied architecture and worked for a while in the US until I got fed up with not having seen enough of the world. So, I moved to Belgium in January to work as an au pair for a lovely family for the year - I like to think of it as a sabbatical of sorts. It's been such a rewarding experience thus far; I've met some really incredible people. I'm taking every opportunity to travel and learn as much as I can about other places and cultures while I'm here, and I think CS is a pretty incredible way to do so.

PHILOSOPHY

Before criticizing a man, walk a mile in his shoes. This way, you are a mile away. And you have his shoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not going to lie, the town I live in is very quiet, though it has it's charm. I live about 20 minutes from both beautiful cities of Gent and Brugge and would be delighted to show you around there, grab some drinks, and/or help you in anyway that I can!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies and the world of cinema! I'm an aspiring production designer for tv and film, so I'd say it's a pretty big interest of mine. These are just some of my favorites:Life is Beautiful, La Dolce Vita, Schindler's List, Casablanca, The Constant Gardener, It's a Wonderful Life, Amelie, Mr. Nobody, E.T., and The Goonies Cinematic Orchestra, Paolo Conte, Carla Bruni, Charles Aznavour, Lois Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Edith Piaf, Alexander, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Cocoon, Peter Bjorn, Coldplay, She and Him... these are just a few favsI really shoud read more. I love Jane Austen and John Steinbeck and I'm currently reading 'The Fountainhead'- which I shamefully admit has been an on-going read for quite sometime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hurricane Katrina left a few scars on Southern Louisiana, but it was remarkable to witness how people came together to sew up its wounds; most people are pretty decent. The experience also taught me what's important in life and how we should count our blessings each day.

Quitting my job and moving halfway across the world for a year was a pretty exciting thing that I did and am still doing ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook, I tell pretty good stories- so I'm told, and generally speaking, I can make people laugh.
