About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Find a middleground between spending my youth living in hedonism and not regretting it later!
ABOUT ME
I'm a tiny person! You will definitely feel tall hanging out with me. I am exceptionally good at laughing (with you of course, not at you), and even better at getting lost. I let my impulses drive my every day life decisions, and 60% of the time, it works every time. (Bonus points if you got that reference). I have been known to take the metro or any form of public transportation and just seeing where it will lead me for the day. Doesn't really help with the getting lost part.
PHILOSOPHY
Ask me if you are curious! Sharing philosophies is one of my favorite kinds of conversation to hold with someone.
Interests
I think there are three activities that take up about 50% of my day that I'm not spending sleeping, and those are: surfing, reading, and eating. I love the ocean--in particular, the Pacific Ocean. It is home. I've been lucky enough to have surfed waves on the Indian Ocean and in the Caribbean Sea, but the Pacific Ocean commands my greatest respect.
Reading: I will read the stuffing out of anything. Even if it's the nutritional label on my toaster strudels, I will read it down to the last daily value percentage.
Eating: Need I say more?
And of course traveling should be in here but I think that is a given among everyone participating in this website (;

Music, Movies, and Books
I love watching good ol' Hollywood films, but my favorite films are all international (relative to the US)! Jeux d'enfants, La Vie en Rose, (big fan of Marion Cotillard, can you tell?), The Battle of Algiers, Das Leben der Anderen, pretty much anything directed by Ang Lee (shout outs to the motherland), Studio Ghibli, and, most recently, Drug War directed by Johnnie To.
I listen to virtually everything. I'm one of those people who might blare Mariachi music as I roll through the streets of San Diego. And I'm a child of the 90's so of course I have a huge reverence to rap and hip hop. I'm not a 'purist' snob though, I know my 2chainz and Wacka Flocka lyrics. Lately my nightlife has revolved around listening to live bands playing at local bars, typically a mix of rock, motown, or blues. I used to sing classical music and was in a choir for my whole high school career, so there's that. And my recent visit to Turkey has left me in throes for more Hadise and Tarkan. The one thing I probably can't stand is...Chinese rap. Just...no.
Books--there are so many! And judging from the last two sections, I don't think I have the proper restraint to keep from listing all of them so I'm going to have to pass on this one.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think one of the most amazing things I have ever seen is the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. I am not a very religious or spiritual person in any context, but visiting that church was one of the most ethereal experiences I have ever had in my life. Antoni Gaudi was a genius in his own right!
One of the most amazing things I have done would have to be that time I used my mangled Turkish to talk our way out of being brought in for questioning when me and some friends were caught sleeping in our rental car right outside of the ruins of Ephesus because we didn't want to spend money on hotel accommodations (couchsurfing might have been the smarter option).
