About Me
My name is Rebecca but I prefer to be called Becky - or "Betty Crocker", as my roommate lovingly calls me ever since she discovered my passion for cooking and baking ;-)
I grew up in a small town in Germany, but I have always dreamed of travelling and exploring the world. One of my passions in life is to meet people from other nations and become friends with people who don't have the same mother tongue as I have. There is so much we can learn from each other!
One of my favourite quotes of all times is: " Become friends with people who aren't your age. Hang out with people whose first language isn't the same as yours. Get to know someone who doesn't come from your social class. This is how you see the world. This is how you grow" I could not agree more with that! :-)
Besides, traveling and making international friends, I am also passionate about teaching. I am studying to become a high school teacher and I work as an English teacher at an institute.
I love to read ( I'll read anything!) and write. Moreover, I m passionate about cooking and baking and I am constantly trying out new recipes when ever I have the time to do so. There's not much that I enjoy more than friends and family (and sometimes random strangers) sitting around the kitchen table enjoying a home made meal and the comapny of each other :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To make friends from all over the world and to experience new cultures by staying with locals, eat what they eat, do what they do and visit places that no tourist guide would ever tell you about ;-) Collecting memories, sharing meals, laughter and conversations with people. That is what I am most excted about when visiting another country. I could easily skip seeing the tourist attractions if I could just spend one day with a person or family from the place I am going to visit.
Also, I do not wish for this to be a "one sided" experience. I would absolutely love to host people in my city in Germany and make them feel at home in my place! :-)
I've always thought Couchsurfing is an excellent idea but to be honest, as a female solo traveler, oftentimes I just haven't been brave enough to try it out.
Now, for the first time, I am finally going to give this a shot. I will be traveling to Iran in December 2018 for about 3 weeks and as I have read and heard so much about the wonderful, warm hearted and hospitable Iranians, I am going to collect my first couchsurfing experience in this country :-) Hopefully people are willing to host me, despite not having any references yet.
