About Me

I'm an optimistic social introvert that is into healthy living. I love good food, a good story, gut wrenching laughter, to dance, and TED Talks. I'm teaching myself to play the baritone ukulele, the guitar, and Arabic. I'm a computer and math geek. Currently, I'm a math teacher at a college.

I run, but I wouldn't say that I love it. I do love to wake up early to go for a swim in the sea before work. I've just recently purchased a sea kayak and I'm loving it.

I have two daughters--the eldest just moved back to Canada to live on her own and the other lives with me.

I love international films and documentaries. I cry watching movies. I prefer to read non-fiction and always have a book on the go, well... to be honest a few books on the go.

I unplugged my television twelve years ago and so I'm quite out of touch with 'current' tv shows... well, except for Big Bang Theory and Sherlock Holmes (I still haven't caught up on them yet though).

I prefer tea over coffee, but still enjoy a good cup of coffee. For me, tea & coffee are not about the caffeine, but making time in the day for conversation.

I love meeting new people. I love to learn. I love art. I love beauty. I love creativity. I love ingenuity. I love fishing. I love flying kites.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people as I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any music that moves me--Latin, Arabic, Lebanese, dance, Fado music (Mariza), Gustav Mahler but not Tchaikovsky.

I love to read and usually read non-fiction; however, when I find a good fiction book, sigh, I can't put it down and I become sleep deprived and so, I limit my reading of fiction books to holidays only.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived up in the Arctic for six years, yes with the polar bears.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an avid fermenter--kimchi, Kombucha, kefir, any vegetables...
