My partner (www.couchsurfing.com/people/piratebond) and I got married on Sept. 17, and we're spending our honeymoon backpacking through Europe for a month with only 20litre bags. We hope to move to Berlin for school in the near future, and are very excited about the travel opportunities that Europe holds! I grew up in Portland, OR, and my partner Simon grew up in Portland, ME. We love Portland, but we feel that the city has outgrown itself (doubled population in 10 years). I have international travel experience, and Simon has biked, hitchhiked, and flown across the US and Canada.
We're frustrated with CS members who are only looking to host with the hope of hooking up. We also are not looking to couch surf because it's inexpensive; we value personal relationships, and think meeting locals and other travelers is the best way to truly learn about a place.
