About Me

My name is Becca Taylor. I dig life. I like to keep it fresh, beautiful and exciting, which means traveling is the reason for my existence. Nothing beats the thrill and joy of traveling to new places and meeting new people. I desire to go anywhere and everywhere.

I graduated May 2014 from King's College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Psychology.
I am here, there, and everywhere.
Right now homes is Phoenix, AZ. I am in the process of becoming a firefighter.

In the past I worked at Arizona Conservation Corp doing different environmental conservation work such as building hiking trails, forest health, invasive species removal and monitoring.
I found myself in Phoenix originally to work at Andre House, a house of hospitality for people experiencing homelessness and poverty.

I love to chat. I am passionate about environmental and social justice (In general, I am just a passionate about life!) I live to help people and being joy and happiness to all, and I love scheming up plans to make the world a better place, so hit me up if you're down.

I live with my boyfriend and two other roomates, so we make a collective decision about if we are able to host or not, so just keep that in mind and give me a day to get everyone's schedule sorted out. I am also in a busy period of life and don't have as much down time as I would like, but will make a moment to kick it if we are able to host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I exist for adventure. What a better way to explore the world than with my fellow earthwalkers. I like to meet new people and get to know an area from the people who live there, not from the concierge at a hotel; tourism and consumerism kills me.

Hospitality is very important to me. I've learned a lot through my experiences working at a homeless hospitality center . I believe we should all treat one another as our most prized guest.
I think there is a lot to give and receive in hospitality, and a true, genuine form of hospitality like opening your home and "couch" to a "stranger"

Interests

I LOVE music, Earth, hiking, writing, reading, breathing, beverages, cooking, riding bike, swimming... Really most things. It's more like what am I not into. I love life and I like to keep life exciting; I am always open to new experiences. I love diversity and meeting new people and seeing new places, and will do anything to continue to grow and learn.
My problems seems to be I enjoy too many things, and have too many hobbies and interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE MUSIC!
I am open to all sounds, just depends on the vibe I'm feeling at the moment.

Not into the Tube much.

I'm easily satisfied. I usually like most books i read, otherwise I wouldn't finish them.
I wish I read more than I do. I find sometimes I get more focused on being a collector, rather than reader.
A book that changed my life was Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and then the sequel "Story of B"
I enjoy anything that will give me a different perspective on life. I like autobios by cool people, I like books about Earth. I'm also into organic farming and food systems. I just like to know what's going on in the world.

I like movies, but don't spend much time watching movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's hard to pick just one.
I went to Peru in college with a really awesome group and stayed at a research center in the rain forest for a week. It was the most remote place I have ever been to. I held a 14 ft Anaconda, ate a beetle grub worm, caught all kinds of crazy insects. It was amazing. We also went to Machu Picchu which was unbelievable. It was an experience I still have trouble putting into words.

Pura Vida! What a trip that was!

Teach, Learn, Share

Working at a hospitality center for those in need has really opened up my world and I love sharing my experiences with others. I have gained so much, from people who appear to have so little. I have never felt so connected to humanity before. What I have gained there I bring with me everywhere I go. My degree in Environmental Studies and Psych has also left me with a little knowledge about a lot of things. I love to be the teacher and the student.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think what I can share the best with hosts is love and happiness. I think I am a fun, loving person. I always make sure I have at least something to offer. Sometimes I can only offer myself, but I am usually carrying some satisfying beverages, or if I can get my hands on some local goodies, whatever they may be. I love to help people in any way possible, and make life better for all.

Countries I’ve Visited
