About Me

Left the states when I was eighteen, went straight to China to teach English, been working and traveling abroad since then. Most recently I was teaching at an international school in northern Poland and now I live and study full time at the University of Leuven.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am vaxxed and looking forward to visiting more people and places in Europe! I've lived and worked in Asia and South America, and due to recent circumstances haven't had the opportunity to have a peek at the plethora of beautiful cities, landscape, and people to be found all across the continent.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm quite interested in film and narrative structure, if I had more time I would study drama. I think my two favourites are Les Demoiselles de Rochefort and Kingdom of Heaven, Ridley Scott's director's cut. I love everything made by Yasujiro Ozu! I unironically adore the Rocky series but I've only seen it in Spanish.

I mostly read philosophy these days, for my studies, this semester I've been reading a lot of Heidegger's Being and Time and various other works of his. I'm more interested in psychoanalytic and postmodern topics. The Phenomenology of Spirit is still my favourite philosophical work, I've only just made it to the "Reason" portion of the text.

My favorite Hadyn string quartet is opus 20 no. 6! I listen to a little bit of everything, now I am looking for more French music since I'm trying to get more acquainted with the language. I like the oldies like Jacques Brel and Serge Gainsbourg but I don't understand them very well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm very independent, left home at 18 to start work as a teacher, haven't stopped moving since then; I've got quite a lot of mileage all over Asia and the Americas. I love people, I love my job, I love to study, and I love art.

Teach, Learn, Share

yoga, philosophical discussion, party, dancing!
language exchange: I've taught English for years, I also speak Spanish and a bit of Mandarin
I love to cook and bake. This is my favourite hobby, vegan friendly or anything. At home I mostly eat vegan but for friends and guests I'll do whatever. I make really good noodles, I can also do an excellent Chicago style pizza.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, I can help with meals and around the house. I hope we can share a drink and a chat, I think the point of couchsurf is to have a nice connection with a local person. It's a rare and delightful opportunity to step into someone else's home and life to see what they see. Hospitality is important to me and even as a guest I want to make the home a pleasant place to be for everyone.
