Overview
About Me
PLEASE NOTE: Due to my awkward living situation (Cornwall has a housing crisis at the moment and I'm lucky to have anywhere to live at all), I cannot host currently. Sorry, I hope that will soon change.
Would anyone like to come for a walk?
I live in Cornwall, one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.
ABOUT ME
An 'amiable scruff' (according to one friend), happiest on the land, hands in the soil or in the studio surrounded by creative mess.
I live in Penryn, near Falmouth in Cornwall, UK.
PHILOSOPHY
Not that I have a personal manifesto as such, but say hello to strangers, nurture new friendships and treasure the friends I already have. Be kind. Be enchanted!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I travel I life to meet locals, when I am at home I like to open the door to interesting strangers. I currently (2022) live in a situation where I am unable to invite people although I hope I will be able to again before long. When I have been able to, I have had a few travellers pass through and it has been wonderful for me to host after years of being on the receiving end of Couchsurfing kindess.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with hosts in Mexico, New Zealand, France and the USA and so far so good. I've been scooped off the pavement by heroes of Couchsurf, enjoyed the sort of kindness and hospitality that invariably restores whatever faith in the human condition was lost in the airport and set on my way. While living for a time in a housing co-op I was been able to host as well and welcome folk from Germany, India and Mexico.
Next mini adventure is walking the Coleridge Trail with my oldest friend. We're splashing out on the odd hotel but in some places there is no accomadation so we're hoping we can rely on the kindness of strangers for an occasional night!

Music, Movies, and Books
As if I could clinically list them all?
Oh but favourite book will forever be The Wind in the Willows
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Only one thing? But which hike, sunrise, miracle of nature, impromptu swim/dance with a stranger/road trip?
Ah, just ask when we meet. I'll think of something.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm an artist/illustrator specialising in drawing and printmaking, I am a henna artist (natural henna only, no nasty black chemical stuff), I make jewellery by carving avocado stones and bits of wood, I make masks and generally tinker around with crafty things. I can cook reasonably well, always squeezing tips and recipes from friends and strangers. I love swimming outside and cycling and hiking. I've been cultivating a veg patch this year, I'm interested in many other things such as photography, climbing, cycling etc. but couldn't claimed to be especially skilled at any of them...need practice...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Company on a stroll, walking the dog, some cooking, cleaning, maybe a pencil portrait? Some work in your garden? An avocado stone pendant? Some henna body art?
