About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and travel and meet people!

ABOUT ME

I'm 25 and I work at a small environmental startup in Oakland, CA. I used to teach English in La Rochelle, France, and I spent some time doing translations for a health research company. I love to travel and meet new people. My favorite thing about traveling is trying new food and experiencing what life is like in other places.

PHILOSOPHY

Basically treat people as you would like to be treated and respect everyone, and appreciate differences :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I wasn't very active on Couchsurfing last year, my roommate was and we hosted some couchsurfers, and it was a great way to meet people from all over the world!

Interests

I like to explore, and go out for a cafe, or a beer. I also like to travel a lot, and find souvenirs from the places I visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now, because was in Europe and I'm young and I'm traveling, I'm really into Ernest Hemingway, especially The Sun Also Rises.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. When I went to Morocco, it was the first time I had ever been to a country that wasn't America or Europe. It was really interesting to be in a completely different place. Also, everyone there was very friendly and we ended up chatting over tea for over an hour in a jewelry store in the souk. It reminded me that even when people come from completely different places and cultures, its always great to sit and chat over tea.
2. I'm not that religious, but my family is culturally Jewish. When I went on my Birthright trip, I went to the Wall in Jerusalem, and I was just overcome by the history behind it. It was crazy to look at the Wall, and realize that thousands of years ago my ancestors stood at the exact same place, and for years and years people prayed and fought so that I could be able to go there.

Teach, Learn, Share

One thing I've learned from my travels is that you always have to respect cultural differences when you're in a new place, or even at home. What one person does everyday another person might think is really rude. You just have to suspend your judgment and respect other cultures.
